wife has been a US citizen since age of 16 is now 55 and since we are planning on retireing to Philippines is considering dual citizenship. Any pros cons other than able to buy as much land as we want and own a business?

Hi and welcome to the forum, hope you find your answers here. Only from what I have read and possibly wrong and others can jump in here. If your wife has dual citizenship and is a returning Filipina the maximum land size she can purchase is (slap me guys) is 4 or 5,000M2, same for my better half and as for a business, go for it. OMO.
Good luck and enjoy.

Cheers, Steve.

If she is a dual citizen and your wife and enters the country with you then your passport will get a Balikbayan stamp, meaning you can stay a year without dealing with immigration.  Good idea to bring a copy of your marriage license and a copy of her new citizenship papers, we have never had an issue going in and out of the Philippines several times a year since 2017.  If you want to move permanently to the Philippines then you need to get the usual 13a visa.  You might like Ilocos Sur more than metro Manila.  Good luck, have patience.

Hello All,

Just a quick question prior to my departure for Manila (UK National living in UAE - 45 day entry visa secured already and flying out very soon. Will apply for 13a visa once in there. Wife will be travelling with me, shes Filipina National).

In getting my paperwork ready and have a question please?

Am I required to have a Police clearance certificate from UAE to submit with the 13a application?  On the official Bureau of Immigration of Philippines site it doesn't mention that I need one however I am reading on various forums that it is required. Does anyone know for sure. The BI in Manila are not responding to my messages.

If it was an easy job to get one quickly here I would go ahead but its not.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

You may want to contact the SSA and confirm their views/laws on reclaiming citizenship in another country after being a naturalized US Citizen.

It should not be an issue since Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that born or naturalized persons are US Citizens.  However, the details that you need to focus on are in the oath of allegiance that immigrants must take in order to become naturalized citizens.

This oath declares that the immigrant will:
"renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen"

It may be possible some benefits can be lost after 6 months if the naturalized citizen regains citizenship from another/former country.  Most importantly, check the process called "denaturalization" and see if she may be subject to it.

Always remember that she must carry and use her U.S. passport when leaving the U.S., and to present it upon reentry. (I.N.A. Section § 215(b), 8 U.S.C. § 1185(b).).

Best to you both and happy travels.
