Hello All again.

Just a bit of advice if i may to escape the costs of a solicitor!

Flying into Manila in a few days. Quarantine is 2 days max until the airport test is returned then a further 14 day home quarantine is required.

I will enter on a 9a tourist visa valid for 45 days.  My wife will be returning with me, she is an OFW. My intention is to apply for a 13a visa i beleive. However this visa takes longer than i will have left on my visa to receive.

Any ideas in that case on the visa i would apply for until then? And would the immigration office be obliging to extend my stay until the 13a is granted.

(been so busy getting the entry visa that haven't had a lot of time to research the next steps!)

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Apply for your 13A as soon as you can.  If you do not have your provisional 13A before the end of  your tourist Visa they will simply extend it until you have it>  Its all routine but can be long winded

Cheers

The best thing to do, since you are flying in with your wife, is to present your marriage contract with your Passport at immigration at the airport, and ask for a Balikbayan Stamp, good for one year.
Maybe someone else can elaborate.

This is also excellent advice and pretty straight forward

From a embassy website...............

Balikbayan Stamp

Former Filipino citizens and their family members traveling together may enter the Philippines without need of a visa for a maximum stay of one (1) year. Former Filipino citizens who wish to avail themselves of the Balikbayan visa-free privilege must present proof of former Philippine citizenship, e.g. (1) old Philippine passport; (2) copy of birth certificate at the Philippine Port of Entry.

Family members of former Filipino citizens must present any of the following :

A marriage contract in case of spouse;

Birth Certificate in case of child;

Adoption papers in case of legally adopted children.

Both ways will work

Hi gents and a big thanks for your help. Really appreciate it.

It will be a frustrating wait for the 14 day quarantine to be over before applying for the 13a visa but what to do.

The Balikbayan privilege visa has been temporarily suspended since Covid reared its ugly head. Many official websites don't mention the cancellation however some do.

Cheers again.

Hi ,if you enter Philippines together with your Filipino wife and have a marriage certificate , she should ask for a Balikbayan visa for you , validity is ONE YEAR then you ll have time to process your13A visa .

Reading the posts on visas for the Philippines and I believe there is not much hope for me. I am planning to retire in philippines and tried to fly there in August. I was refused travel. I do not have a Filipino wife. I plan to a SRRV Expanded Courtesy Visa, but this will not help me get into the country.

Some great information, thanks to all.

Just wondering what is the advantage / disadvantage   between a 13A and a Balikbayan visa (on arrival in PHP with wife)?

Pro's  & Con's etc
*  Cost?
*  Benefits?
*  Administration?
*  Etc?

Would be most appreciative of any import.

Just to let you know i and my wife will for the next 20 plus years leave the Philippines at least once a year.
