I have to say that reading this thread has cheered me up no end in these dark times but although I do not want to get involved with your little spat, I would just like to say that things are changing every day regarding the Covid situation. There have been positive announcements recently about vaccine trials and I for one try to look for the positives.

I have a girlfriend and young daughter, who I have never seen, living near Cagayan De Oro and would like to get to see them ASAP. Fortunately for me my girlfriend understands the reason I can not be with her and updates me on our daughter progress daily with pictures and short videos.

Now like I said, I do not wish to enter this argument but I must point out that anybody who is not living in the Philippines will need to wait a little longer to visit and do not forget it is not just the restrictions on travel and the number of cases and quarantine measures in the Philippines that count, it matters also from where you will be travelling from. So for example England has a high number of cases and deaths from covid and we are in our second full lockdown so even if the Philippines were open to tourists I could not travel because of the restrictions at my end. I would also have to transit in another country on route and I can imagine the procedures at say Dubai International would be strict.

If having the vaccine is required for people to fly, then that is down to each individual to make the choice to have it or not. I know given my circumstances I would definitely have the vaccine so I could be with my girlfriend and daughter. I agree with you that more airlines will follow the example of Quantas but in my view it is still worth getting the vaccine anyway.

As for Romania, there population in 2019 was approximately 19.4 million people and they have had just over 10,000 deaths from Covid. The United Kingdom has a population of about 66 million and have over 50,000 deaths already from Covid. Neither country is doing well and it is much the same across many countries in Europe. Most countries in Asia do seem to have lower death rates and current cases so my point was that even if the Philippines does open up to international tourism, visitors from Europe where there are more confirmed cases and deaths will probably still not be allowed to visit until the vaccine is rolled out.
