Moving to Melbourne.

shaunaimee

My wife and I are looking to move to Melbourne from the U.S. This will be our first time moving out of the country. We are not sure we're to even begin. I have looked at the visas online and I'm not sure which one we would need. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello shaunaimee,

Welcome to Expat.com :)

Since you're a bit lost, my advice to you would be to first go through our Living in Australia guide and also to filter it by region(in your case, that would be Melbourne). ;)

After doing a bit of reading up, you can come back to us, and ask us more specific questions.

Our members will gladly answer them. :)

Good luck,

Diksha

Do you have any employment skills that could get you a permanent visa?

It isn't easy to get to Australia other than as a visitor or if you have skills that Australia needs.

At the moment, due to COVID, it is even worse, even with skills.

Hopefully with the vaccines getting closer, it should get easier soon.

I will have at least an associate's degree in IT And I do have a cdl here driving a garbage truck with it will be over 10 years of experience by then. My wife has her associate's degree in accounting and will have a bachelors by the time we get there. Do you think that will be enough?
