@AaronAardv it was 16 months for years
Hi, can anyone shed some light on this question. If you are leaving the Philippines for a very short break because you are approaching the three year deadline, do you need to show a return/onward ticket on your return to the Philippines? It states on the uk.gov website that: you should have valid tickets for your return journey to the port of origin or next port of destination not later than thirty (30) days from the date of your arrival in the Philippines.
@Skeletor570 Unfortunately - YES - You must have an Onward or Throwaway Ticket no later than 30 days from your return Arrival Date. Check Cebu Pacific - They are having a Sale now. I will be leaving for my 3 year run in October, returning on Dec 2. I just booked a one way ticket from MNL (cheapest departure airport, regardless of where you live) for 2,192 PHP to Hanoi for Dec 25th. There are some Sites called "Onward Ticket" where you just Rent a ticket (cannot use for actual travel) for 2 to 14 days and they are cheaper. I felt more comfortable paying a bit more for less anxiety. Dumb Rule - But, you have No Choice and your return airline may not allow you to travel back unless you have proof of Exit Ticket. Remember to get your ECC Exit Clearance Certificate a couple of weeks before leaving.

@Wellsfry That would work easily for a short flight back to Philippines. My flight returning from Houston is 30+ hours cuz of a 7 hour layover in Dubai via Emirates. I would have to book the ticket before checking in to desk to show airline clerks; then cancel when I arrive Dubai; then book a new ticket to cancel; then cancel after arrival in Cebu. Too much anxiety for me. Plus, I want to have my Throwaway Ticket to show to Immigration for the ECC-B Application - Not that it is required - just to be safe. I take far less risks now that I am a Dinosaur. Some people also book a Cebu Pacific Flexible Ticket that can be cancelled and then refunded into a Travel Fund. But it appears that they charge you up to 2,000 PHP for that privilege, so I just bought and printed one that is a true throwaway ticket and will lose the $40 as a cost of doing business here.
@Skeletor570 You don't need to wait to buy the throwaway ticket in Thailand. Keep an eye on Airline Sales. Right now, I would bet that the lowest prices you will find re with Cebu Pacific since their flights all originate here in Philippines. Especially now with the Sale on International Destinations. Check the entire month for prices - they have a Fare Calendar, and there is a big difference depending on dates.
@Skeletor570 Just received an email from Cebu Pacific that Today is the Last Day for their Big Sale. They call it an 8 Peso Base Price, but after you add the fees and surcharges it is at least 2,192 One way. Just letting you and others know.
@talamban Thanks for that Talamban!. Just read your message so might be a little late. I will certainly check it out today!

@coach53 hi, does Singapore require Covid-19 insurance? I know Philippines does not.

Hi. Does anyone in here that applied for exit clearance certificate in immigration got their passport collected and wasn’t returned after 3 days?
Are your accommodation stays ever check, I.E if you rent various properties, due traveling around, or find better/cheaper accommodation .
Hi and welcome to the forum Platypus.
For me no, I achieved this today and was in and out in an hour with ECC and passport. Minus 3 of 2 x 2 pics and 500 pesos for the express lane fee, no other costs. All my docs were in order as well as flight Itinerary, last visa extension receipt, current ACR card and a smiling face. 35 months here and no problems, a week in Singapore then start again, No idea why they took your passport. The only ones I know of that hold your passport for 4 to 6 weeks are the PRA if applying for an SRRV (processing time so you need a 60 day visitor visa)
Maybe you applied in Intramuros and they are slow, San Fernando City in La Union a 1 hour process and 5 to 15 minutes to extend your visa every 2 months.
Good luck and I hope you get your passport back or stuck here.
Cheers, Steve.
@bigpearl hello, thank you for your reply. Hmmm, now im worried, that’s a big concern for me because, why would they took my passport if already provided photocopies of the bio page and the page with my latest visa stamp. I applied in one of the satellite offices and it’s here in Dasmarinas Cavite. Maybe they do that if you apply in satellite offices and not in the main office?
@TeeJay4103 I have been here for a year now and my fee was 13 k for 2 months. There is no scale for the pay to stay. It’s in the IO hands to charge whatever. Well that’s what I have been dealing with anyway!

There is a scale of fees on their website and posted in black and white on the notice boards in all immi offices, well my experience with Intramuros and my satellite office here in La Union.
As for 13 K for 2 months? Are you using a fixer or authorized agent? I have been here this time for 35 months and my 6 x 2 month extensions including ACR is around 21 K per year.
Perhaps share some more info so members can help your overcharge. As posted above my ECC was only 500 pesos then when we return I start over with the 36 month thing.
Cheers, Steve.
I Just arrived back home to dapitan after a 3 week visit with my 2 sons in u.s.... No return ticket. I actually forgot to get one... customs simply asked me "how long this time?" And I laughed and said "ahhhh... 2 or 3 months..." and she stamped my passport and away I went... 👍🏻

It was the airlines in the US when you checked in that was supposed to check for an exit ticket.
Exactly Larry, Wellsfry was fortunate not to get turned around. Im off to Singapore for a week so have my return flight to PH and an exit ticket 2 months to Hong kong ahead, last thing I or Ben need is for me to be booted off the return leg.
Cheers, Steve.

This never concerns me, i was always either BB or SRRV, but I have wondered: Suppose they did turn you away. Couldn't you then just get on your smartphone and get an electronic return e-ticket at the airport so they might let the person in rather than get deported?
Yes dan from what I have read many do that, risky but worked for them,,,, well most. For 80 bucks just buy an exit ticket, use it or give it away.
Cheers, Steve.

I went over to Thailand a few years ago while wintering in Cebu, to get a crown and eat Thai food. I forget the details, but when I went to check in for my return to Cebu, the airline asked to see my onward ticket from Philippines.. Oops. It was on a different airline, and the eticket was buried somewhere in my gmail, and unavailable.. as I couldn’t seem to get wifi access. She wasn’t going to let me on, but finally relented and let me use HER PERSONAL WiFi access to get into my gmail folder where the other ticket was stored.
The younger people like my kids (they're adults 😁) are relying too much on their cell phones on e-tickets, boarding pass, etc. My kids call me old and old fashioned. I always bring a printed copy of my e-tickets, boarding pass. I also send photocopies of my airline tickets, itinerary, passport, driver's license and credit cards to my siblings when I travel outside and within the US. Just in case I lose them while away. To me it is a good insurance against a high probability risk. Saves me the trouble when the other country's requirement to see my return and my travel plans.
