Hi! I am Alyssa, an American expat currently living in Bremen, Germany. I've been here for about a month and a half. My long term plan is to study linguistics at a German university, but I am currently enrolled in a language school to improve my language skills. I lived in Northern Ireland before this but I was there on a charity worker's visa so the bureacratic part of things was a little easier last time. Germany has certainly proven to be a little more complicated in that area. I look forward to hearing about the lives and experiences of other expats! :)
LG,
Alyssa

Hi All,
It's my pleasure to be here. I am from India and working here full time. But being in India for a long time and hence looking to move out. Learning another language, knowing another culture, knowing global people is something interests me more. I am in IT/Softwares with 16+ years in technology and hence, think it would be great to get a visa to work there and pursue other things while working. But since I have minimal knowledge about Germany, though I am reading online blogs and forums, hearing directly from the members and expats would be much better. Thanks.

The only help one can appropriately ask for here is information and advice. And like mentioned on many many other threads; a non-EU person will not get a job and the necessary work visa for non-skilled labor. Maybe you could get a civil engineering job - if you learn fluent German.

OK. If you are planning to practice medicine in Germany then you will have to have your academic qualifications recognized - and one has to pass a C1/C2 level of German. Its critical to be able to speak the local language. English is good, and usually expected but in addition rather than as an alternative to German.

Thank you, currently at level A1, hopefully soon I will be at C1

Good luck. C1 is another 18 months full time effort in a good program hopefully that submerges one in the language.
