Hi Edith just want to know how was your month so far ,Talia
Hello,
I am Lynda, French expat currently living in Spain (for the past 15 years). My husband (French as well) and I along with our 3 kids (13, 10 and 4yo, all born in Spain) are planning to move to Mauritius next spring.
We are looking at the visas first then housing. First we would like to find a short term rent (in the North) (possibly monthly basis) but big enough for the 5 of us especially since we would be self-employed working from home. I already checked the French schools (where I could put all 3) and will have to contact them to assess the situation, possible integration before end of school year.
We also have a 6th family member, our Bengal cat who would be thrilled to enjoy a garden. I have been looking at the requirements for domestic pet transport (vaccination, cargo, crate) and have clarified most of the points but still have some doubts (mostly for the cargo flight transport) so if anyone has gone through similar journey, please feel free to contact me
Have a nice day ahead
Lynda
Hi All
My name is Arthi and I am from South Africa.
My husband and 2 kids 10 and 12 years old will be relocating to Mauritius next year.
My 10 year old is dyslexic.
I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me names or info on schools that cater for dyslexic kids.
We haven't decided on the area we will be staying in. We decided that it will be easier to work around the school that we find for my daughter and then decide where we will stay.
Any suggestions or information will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Arthi
I am a Registered Nurse/Midwife with over 10years working experience. Can someone guide me on how to get a job in Mauritius. Am Agatha.Blessings to you all.
Good morning Lynda,
My name is Amalia.
My husband Stef, Max my 13 year old and myself moved to Pereybere 2 weeks ago. We are from the UK.
We don’t speak French or Creole yet so Max is attending Northfields International school, where there is a box mix of nationalities.
With your children speaking French they will have no problem fitting in where ever they end up joining.
We were told by our estate agent that you have to commit to a 12 month contract when it comes to house rentals, and the property market is moving pretty quick as Mauritius has just opened their boarders.
We are also in the process of bringing our cat and dogs o er from the UK .
We are using a broker on this side called Hanna- happy to pass on her info if you like?
Kind regards
Amalia
Good morning Arthi,
My son Max 13, who has both mild dyslexia and dyspraxia was very welcomed to Northfields International. Saying that he doesn’t want to ‘make a fuss’ or highlight it so he won’t ask for extra help (he has just started so maybe with time) so I’m not sure how much help they give. But they had no issues with our application..
good luck!!
Hi Edith,
We are not from South Africa but from the Uk..
my son max 13, husband stef and myself moved here 2 weeks ago.
We live in the North.. happy to meet up to say hi!
Regards Amalia
Hi Amalia,
Congrats on the move, I hope you like it there, Pereybere beach is beautiful, we were staying not far away (Bain Boeuf) when we first come onto the island.
So if your agent mentionned the 12 months contract, did you sign it before moving (without seeing it in person) or did you rent a falt or house for a few weeks (holiday rental) to go through your visits? We were thinking of option 2, as we may see interesting offers on the web but it is always better to visit it in person before getting involved in a 12 month contracts.
Regarding the broken for your pet travel, is she located in Mauritius? I found that they are many brokers, but not sure of the quality of their service and price... So your experience and feedback on the matter are more than welcome. For now , I will do the mandatory vaccination and will leave the rest for later.
By the way my 2nd son is also dislexic, and have attention deficit, but I believe each school has a way to deal with that. I will check with the school about that when I contact them, although.
Many thanks and good luck with this new life!!! Excited for you
Lynda

Hello, I am 20 years old and Mauritius is my native country, but born in France.
I will be here another 1 month and plan to move in here as soon as possible.
In this place, I love the clean air, the sea, the mountains, the food ... and much more. For the moment I am thinking about my professional project, but I admit that I cannot decide for myself.
Thanks for reading.
Hi everyone
My name is Esma Fidar. We are a digital nomad/remote working family. My husband is Canadian and I am South African and we home school our 10-year-old daughter.
We are planning to come to Mauritius at the end of November and stay for 3-6 months before going to Turkey. But who knows? Maybe we fall in love with Mauritius and never leave.
We would appreciate any advice regarding reasonably priced accommodation for that period as well as general information that might make our adjustment easier, especially with kids.
I am looking forward to chatting about these and other matters.
Thank you kindly and pleased to make your acquaintance.

Hi,
Myself, my wife and 3 kids (new born twins) are moving to Mauritius next year.
Wondering which area would be better for us to live in. Grand Baie or Black River/Tamarin?
We will be there for 6 months and looking for an area where it’s easy to meet people, a vibrant community and nice things to do. Hoping to live by the sea. Schools aren’t important as all kids under the age of 3!
Any advice on which area to live in would be amazing.
Thank you!
its all down to temperature!!!!
G Bay well up in the north has the heat no question
Down south black river etc is nice ok but you will feel the cold in winter
G Bay is well served with shopping and beaches in close proximity
any other question just ask
yes we live in Grand Bay .......

Hi all,
My name is Kalpana and I moved to Mauritius in January as my husband lives here. I'm from Malaysia but I have spent the last few years in the UK where I was completing my doctorate and teaching. I have just recently submitted my PhD thesis (yay!) and am interested in getting more immersed in the life and culture here. I would be very interested in joining a book club, learning French and Creole and just generally making new friends. I love reading, writing, travelling and eating good food. Nice to meet all of you!
Hi All,
Thanks for accepting me.
We're currently living in Spain where we run a successful spring and summer season business.
For various reasons we're planning to move permanently abroad, or move the majority of the year abroad, while returning to Spain from April - September for our business here.
We've been looking at various options, like central or south America ( but rain / hurricane season puts us off ) or U.A.E ( but strict rules are putting us off ) and then we learned about Mauritius, and so far it looks perfect ; climate, freedom, lifestyle, but also ease of starting an international business, tax system, political stability, healthcare system, ...
Who can share his thoughts with us on these topics ?
On this last day of the year, where we all make plans for the new year, I'm sharing my plans with you, and wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous 2022
