14 days or 21 days quarantine?

Post new topic

DeanJohnson

I know that VN govt has made an official statement about changing 14 days to 21 days quarantine. However i still have some evidences from my friends that some ppl from UK just got into VN after Tet still only have to go through the quarantine in 14 days. Is this 21 days quarantine only applied to some special case? Anybody has any insider news about this?

Ciambella

Most cases are 14 days. The longer quarantine is for people coming from or entering epidemic communes, wards, and towns of Saigon, Gia Lai, Bình Dương, Hà Nội, Hải Dương, Hà Giang, Hải Phòng, Bắc Giang, Quảng Ninh, Đồng Nai, Đà Nẵng, Thừa Thiên Huế, and for people who have traveled to and from blocked areas across the country.

The list above is not fixed. When an area is no longer considered an epidemic center, the quarantine time will return to 14 days.

The Embassies of Korea and Japan here have "suggested" that increasing quarantine time could cause serious obstacles to businessmen of their countries who need to enter Vietnam during this time.  As Korea and Japan are the two leading investment partners in Vietnam, I think their request will more than likely receive serious consideration from the government.

No, it has been reduced again to 14 days everywhere, for everybody. The 21 days have been officially cancelled on 9th February.
I'm currently in quarantine in Saigon, for 14 days.
In Hanoi it's the same, 14 days.

When you are contradicting our expert on  Vietnam, it would be helpful if you would provide an official link for your information, since you state you have knowledge of the government's official action.

Thanks very much!

Then it seems your "expert" is not an infallible expert

I attach the decree. I hope your expert speak Vietnamese: https://ibb.co/F6dgT6D

Well at least our expert follows the rules of this forum.

First of all this is an English language Forum, so if we post something in the Vietnamese language we provide our own translation.

We don't just leave it up to other people to stumble over something written in the Vietnamese language.

And second, when we comment on a particular post we quote the person to whom we are referring.

So you don't know how to quote yet and you don't know how to post in the English language.

You really don't have any room to be making snide remarks about our expert.

As I was saying...

Are you seriously going to post something in Vietnamese and then tell the reader to Google translate the pic?

Why wouldn't you follow the rules of the Forum and provide the English translation yourself?

My situation is as follows:
15 days quarantine in Hcmc after arrival from Us via Korea
No contact with anyone upon release
7 hour private car ride to Dak Nong
Now must quarantine an additional 14 days at home
7 consecutive negative covid tests
So far still positive attitude

I can imagine someone going through all that for their career.

Cheers to you as you continue to hang in there.

I certainly can't imagine most "tourists" ever being willing to go through that.

So opening the borders to tourism can only really happen when such restrictions are also eased.

Your initial response to the poster seemed somewhat snide to me, OceanBeach.  Contradiction isn't insult, and he was right, after all.  Just thank him and be done with it.

You do see the irony?

You are correcting me for correcting someone else.

Except my correction is based on forum rules, where you object to my style, and then tell me what to do.

If at any time you think a post of mine is offensive or inappropriate, by all means, use the "report" function, hidden in the same place as the "quote" function.

That may be so on a phone which is apparently your access point.  On a laptop "Quote" is at the bottom right of the post and "Report" is at the top right.

My wife who is a Viet Overseas wants to return to HCMC in March.   What is the cost of the 14 day quarantine like you are enjoying?
Thanks

Standard rooms at Ibis Airport are 1,7 million (with meals included). So 1,7 X 14 = 23,8 million
(+deposit +transportation from the airport).
I think it's the minimum price, other hotels or bigger rooms are 2 million and more.
But Vietnamese usually go to quarantine camps, they use repatriation flights, it's a procedure different from the experts, I'm not sure a Vietnamese can come by a repatriation flight and then go to a hotel...

Hi, are tourists/long-term visitors allowed back in Vietnam if they do quarantine? I was in Vietnam from February to August 2020, but had to leave due to a family issue in the U.S. I would like to return but the Viet embassy in America has "no information at this time". Thanks for any clarification from the inside.

THIGV

There is some talk in the US now about establishing a "vaccine passport."  It's really nothing official and mostly just chatter.  The idea is that it could be used for travel and also within the country for entry to venues like sporting events.  If such an idea does come about, hopefully it will gain international recognition.

Another Vietnam specific solution that I can envision would be notarized letters from your physician that you have been vaccinated, that are subsequently run through the Viet Embassy/Consulate for translation and certification the same way marriage and work permit documents are.   As anyone who has gone through this process knows, this is a real pain but it could work.  Hopefully something gets worked out before the end of the calendar year.  My wife really wants to see her family for Tet. :par:

As you're an American citizen, the answer is no.

Here's the official statement (updated Feb 26, 2021):

"The government continues to stop entry for all foreigners, including VEC holders. The exceptions are diplomats, public service employees, experts, senior workers, investors, and employees of key projects as decided by the government. Family reunification is not considered an exception."

Thanks for the quick and clear response. Much appreciated. Wow...I'll just keep holding my breath. Best to you. Cheers.

After the initial kerfuffle, everyone here seems to be getting on fine.  If you think about it, even that dust up was just over who would use Google Translate, the poster or the reader.   Sort of a distinction without a difference.

Only workers can come. Need to be sponsored by a company. Many English teachers come, for example with ILA.

phucarl

what about US citizens that also have VN passport?  I see lots of flights on Google flights , I'm assuming these are not repriation flights. I would rather quarantine in the camps with local citizens.

You can ask your ambassy to be repatriated.

There are not many repatriation flights, here those of March (13 flights):
