Marriage - Non-EU and EU National - Visa query - Covid 19 Pandemic

Hi, I am a Non-EU national and my partner is Irish National. Both of us are currently living together in Ireland. I am on stamp 1g and my visa expired in December last but has automatically extended due to the pandemic by the Department of Justice.  We have our wedding in September 2021 in Ireland.
I needed some insights with respect to my visa situation.

Should I write to the Department of Justice and ask them to extend my stamp 1g for until our wedding or should I approach them in a different way?

Any assistance is much appreciated.

Kind Regards.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Yes, almost certainly you need to contact the Department of Justice.  Details of how to contact them are on their website, this link will take you straight there.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much.
I was just wondering how to address my query with them. Should I request them to extend my visa or if I should ask them as to what my immigration status is until the day of my wedding?

Hi again.

Tell them your circumstances and what your plans are and that you wish to extend your current status until you qualify for something else.  I suspect that you can only extend your current visa as anything else doesn't exist to be extended.  Your immigration status does not change just because you are planning to get married.  Keep it simple.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kake.

How did you get on with this? I’ve got the same kind of situation. Would be glad if you can share.

Thanks a lot.
