Hello i would like to know if possible to live Phillipines and import things like tourist? Like my bike, computer, book,...
And how i proceed and tax? Possible take car also and drive with foreign plate in Phillipines with tourist visa? Here in Ukraine many people from Usa imported the car and drive with USA plates.
I am from Belgium and now live Ukraine but not happy here and hard to get girl because too much sex tourist from Turkey.
Possible but very expensive to import things which they count as "luxury" as for instance cars.
Plus high transport costs, so I aim at bringing only a few boxes myself, selling most of the things I will need too, because of the costs to get things there.
IF it will be as before SRRV visa got halted, such get a free amount value to bring without custom fees. (If I remember correct it was up to 7000 us dollars worth.)
I don't know if it's possible, but why drive with foreign plates?
Btw It's a max time you can drive with foreign drivers license, I believe 12 months.
You will like the Philippines, few sex tourists from Turkey.
Hi luibov, welcome to the other side of the world and this forum. Some great advice from Lunkan,,,,,,,,, don't bother, it will cost you an arm and a leg. Customs and BIR here are not to be messed with unless it's a must have and you have a large bank account or as also Lunkan mentioned an SRRV retirement visa in the motions,,,,,,,,, not going to happen in the foreseeable future,,,,,,,, stay tuned on that one. I will ad that returning Filipinos (my partner) have lucrative customs and BIR exemptions based on their time out of country, our loop hole, not OFW's There are other ways and means to achieve importing goods BUT as soon as car, motorbike, auto parts, boat, R.V. aeroplane etc. are mentioned the system here will extract as much as possible from your bank account. I researched this some 6/7 years ago for our SL Merc and a 508 Peugeot wagon in Australia and firstly would cost about 100% of the value in duties and taxes aside from the shipping costs,,,,,,,,,, then the worst point is that the Philippines only accepts LHD imports. Australia is RHD, simply purchased a car and bikes here. For you in the Ukraine from memory is LHD all good if you are prepared to pay the pesos.
Don't bother. I have been in PH. for 9 years and never seen a foreign registration plate. You bring it here, pay the import taxes, go to the LTO and sit there for days trying to sort out registering your import here, difficult enough just to reregister a Filipino car here, good luck.
I like Belgium, been there a couple of times, the beer is good, the women are better, I made my bed in PH. and very happy. BTW the Ukraine is not on my bucket list.
Foreign drivers licence is good for 3 months on a tourist visa, international DL I believe is good for 12 month but from experience are not worth the paper they are written on. Not bothered with them for years. When I rock up to foreign countries and go to pick up my car at the airport or delivered to my hotel,,,,,,, they always want my Australian drivers licence and passport. In saying that I now live here and still operating on my Aussie drivers licence,,,,, must do something about that,,,,,, Filipino time etc.
I will add, have you ever visited this fine country with all its foibles? Good luck and enjoy.
OMO.
Cheers, Steve.
An add.
The ladies and guys here are spectacular and perfect,,,,,,,, when and if you can find the right one.

Btw LOOK UP! As when counting value under 7000 USD or to count values to count custom fees in percentage of, it's risk the custom count the value for NEW even if it' something old close to garbage!
It happened at entrance with carried laguage, but perhaps it was to make the travelers leave things so the custom handler could get it for free. The traveller left the phone instead of paying the demanded fees. Butt this was before Duterte fired the highest Custom boss for corruption, so perhaps it's better now.

It's allowed to do many types of business in the Philippines, but except export business there are many restrictions against foreigners. A main common thing is max 40 % owning and 40 % power to foreigners, but for some types it's not allowed at all for foreigners.
If you know what you aim at starting and want more detailed answer about that alternative, you can write it in this topic or PM me, I can answer in PM if you want.
liubov2011 wrote:Do you think i can live Philipines with visa tourist always? French guy say he live 9 years there with visa tourist.
I believe he has taken some turns out and back in again during these 9 years. If doing so, you can go on like that "for ever" as it was before covid BUT with covid you wouln't get in again.
liubov2011 wrote:How they calculate taxand how much? I looked few official website and don't understand very weel some time the say 3 to 50% tax but sometime i read 12% is vat..
Some simplified:
/VAT is a tax counted at the REVENUE. 12 % is the common but there are some exceptions.
/INCOME tax in counted at PROFIT. It's a tax percent raising in STEPS.
liubov2011 wrote:With visa tourist i can import my things? I understand must buy many new things ph but some i need take it, like my book(i have 500), my bike,....
Yes but expensive, At SRRV visa you can import PERSONAL stuff for FREE when you move. ( believe max 7000 USD worth.
NOTE! I suppouse you CAN'¨T work legal at tourist VISA.
hello i am not search work in Philipines. now i do trading and selling online digital product.
So you don't know how much they tax?
liubov201 wrote:i am not search work in Philipines. now i do trading and selling online digital product.
You need work permit to work in own business too.
The Philippines even find it illegal for short time VISITORS to do some work at distance to their abroad offices!
It's an other question if they will notice if you work without permit
But when living and working in the Philippines regularly I recomend to get work permit and register your business. It's som work to get it done, but better anyway.
liubov2011 wrote:So you don't know how much they tax?
Well. I know the taxes exact for not internet businesses. There are very good incentives to BMBE register your business if you fullfil the demamds which most do except franchises. From 0 to high percent income tax depending of business result. And around 12 % social fees for PhilHeaöth insurance, good to have anyway, SSS (retirement pay) and Pag-.-Ibig which is a forced "saving " to get low inteerest loan if buying a home in a town/city.)
BUT there are SPECIAL rules for Internet businesses, which I know just litle oi. Some similar to other businesses, but some BETTER for internet businesses because Phil government want people to make it legal. I diddn't save these because I'm starting a normal business, but here you can read some https://www.manilatimes.net/2020/10/01/ … ed/774473/
No problem for a foreigner to be allowed to own WHOLE business if at least 60% of the income come from abroad, because then it's counted as "export business." anyway.
I suppouse no problem to get work permit approved neither, but you need one.
There are cheap services as acountant, programmers and video editors in the Philippines. The acountant my new business use cost around 4000 pesos per YEAR for acounting and filling all tax forms (plus I pay her extra if I ask her to do something more than that as for instance get some permit or tell me some praxis .)
Good advice above but perhaps you could tell us what you really want to do here in PH. for more accurate intentions.
Filipinos can earn up to 250K per year with no tax, the info is available with our best friend google. BIR.
As a foreigner working/earning income while living in another country you firstly need to look at tax treaties between affiliated countries and their ramifications to your particular circumstance.
Example: I have been employed as an Australian citizen by an An American company working in the Philippines, 2 x 6 month contracts over 2 years. No US tax, No PH. tax but reported and tax paid in Australia on my income derived from a foreign country within a tax treaty as well as income earned within Australia. Yes I paid my taxes. I have done this in several other countries also.
I am now retired living in PH. but have passive and active income generated in Australia, property, stock market, equipment hire, superannuation and bank interest,,,,,,, not much there these days and only takes me 3 or 4 hours a week to manage online, I doubt very much if BIR will ever knock on my door to hassle me. My accountant is in Australia and yes as always pay my taxes. As my long departed father always banged into my head, "the more tax you pay the more money you are making and not the more money you make and that's why God made accountants".
I know borders are closed ATM for tourists but only a suggestion, before making any decisions to move/live in the Philippines, when and if ever things open up again, come here for a month or 2 on a holiday, taste the flavours and see if you like. I am from a warm sub tropical climate (Sunshine Coast Queensland) and at times find the climate here oppressive over the years but have slowly acclimatised, coming from a cold climate you will feel it more, something to also think about.
Enough for now and glad you see the wisdom of selling your car.
Cheers, Steve.
If not told, you CAN get in at a SIRV "investor VISA" if you have minimum 75 000 usd to deposit. That amount you can use to invest in the Philippines. That possibility opened last november.
The department for tourism is trying to open for tourists though, but some other in power are against it still.
i don't spoken about business in ph i spoken about tax my things like my bike and other to take in ph like tourist. i saw 3 to 50%?
liubov2011 wrote:i don't spoken about business in ph i spoken about tax my things like my bike and other to take in ph like tourist. i saw 3 to 50%?
If importing things as tourist, it's full fees IF the custom bother about what you carry too.
Motorbike is counted as "luxury" and such have very high custom fees, NOT worth to import specialy when high transport costs by long distance. The custom fees at vehicles are so high so cars are even organiced smuggled..
NEVER 3 % but 3 % PLUS 12 % VAT is common level at NOT "luxury". Much higher at "luxury". I haven't checked how high but high enough to trigger smugglings.
Although cars imported in PARTS and assembled in Phils AREN'T counted as "luxury" It's common, with surplus imported from Japan as parts and assembled in for instance Cebu and Davao.
. .
You sspoke about business too
liubov2011 wrote:I am 47 yo and i look for doing business in Philipines,.
You beat me to that one coach53.
To the OP. If you want to ship lots of things to the Philippines you will need to contact an international shipper/forwarder. Know the volume of the goods to be shipped to get an idea of costs.
Unfortunately there are no tax exemptions that I am aware of in the Philippines on a tourist visa. If you can't find the duties and taxes applicable using our good friend google then perhaps ask the shipping company/s you get prices from.
Yes Australia is an expensive country to live but it's all relative, High wages etc.
Honestly, I moved/retired here with my Filipino partner, if I were a single man I would stay in Australia or move to Italy or Spain. If you have never been to the Philippines or maybe other Asian countries I would have a look see before you commit, many that move here love it and many hate the place and move away, I am in the middle and have my b*tches but overall we are happy and the bonus is it's cheap to live here, more money for holidays once this pandemic ends.

Cheers, Steve.
