Hello Expats in Singapore,

By way of a quick introduction, I’m Shekhar and I have been employed/ living in SG for the past 3 years. I have my EP application with MOM (owing to a job switch) for approvals, but I have had 2 rejections in the past 3-4 weeks. Just curious if there is anyone in the same situation as me, or the experts here who could share some wisdom-

1. Is increased scrutiny, the new norm? For someone who’s already living and working in SG, queries on educational background seems off (same details were provided earlier, EP was approved, been working here, even got EP renewed for 3 years just recently. For the same educational qualifications, no changes etc, the new EP application was rejected, I was asked to get some letters etc from the awarding university)

2. Has anyone secured an EP recently, with a job switch/ new employer? If so, what’s your experience been, how long did it take?

Yes, EP criteria are getting more and more stringent!
The authorities might require additional information to decide whether your education fits the new job. Or it is just a random verification.
New EPs are also always checked more thoroughly than renewals - e.g. no check whether any local can do the job instead of you is needed for a renewal.
