Commuting from Mellieha

Hi all,

I am about to relocate to Malta with my family (wife and 1 year old baby)  and  after doing plenty of research we are considering living in Mellieha. :)

My only concern is commuting to work as I will be working in Sliema from 9:00 to 17:30. I won’t need to commute there  every day but i will probably need to go to the office about 3 days a week.

Driving is not a problem as I own a car and a motorbike but I would like to get  feedback from people who are doing a similar commute and ideally and estimate for the journey during peak time. When I look at google map I get an estimate of around 35 minutes but I believe that’s without counting traffic which in that case could be a concern.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Yeah, most of the time, you should be OK on that route - the coast road is pretty clear until you hit the Pembroke / St Andrews area - it starts to back up as the rush hour kicks in and that is probably where you will spend the most time ... so basically, the Mellieha section to there will be nice, but from there on, it is pretty slow - using a motor bike will speed things up a lot, but take care on the bike!

We relocated 3.5 years ago with a 5 month old and a 3 year old, any questions feel free to ask :-)

Mellieha is nice, but you might end up spending a lot of time heading to the central areas for things .. we lived in St Pauls Bay area for over 2 years, then moved to Mosta last summer, and love the ease of getting to everywhere .. and there are still several great beaches less than a 15 min drive away.
