Ranco Village is a very reasonable (rental) compound and quite large in size.  There is a broad range of housing available from single batchelor apartments to 4 bedroom bungalows and a range of styles from part brick bungalows to modern 2 storey duplex buildings.  This provides a mix of people, singles, couples and families from a broad range of cultures and nationalities.  The facilities on Ranco Village are very good, they have a range of entertainment facilties with a decent function hall, coffe shop, restaurant to a good choice of leisure facilities; two gyms, a choice of swimming pools and areas etc.  They have a renown weekly 'quiz' night where people come from all over to participate.  It is a realitively large compound in size so you can run around the compound very easily as a form of exercise if you are not a 'gym' bunny.  You should settle into Ranco Village quite nicely as their is a choice of things to do but at the end of the day, like anywhere else, it is what you make it.

We are moving there this weekend, we already have a few friends there but we are moving from Eid Compound as they have increased their rent by SR 30,000 in 2010 and again in 2011 with no signs of this trend easing up.  Whilst Eid is a nice compound with nice villa's, it's not THAT nice!

Hey RedGoblin, I have been here, just busy being busy I guess :) Also had the horrid experience of what we call "the Saudi kiss"    when you leave one company to join another and the first company acts as if you have committed an act of treason and do everything in their power to have you deported!   Happened to my husband just now and we are only just throught it :D  Touch and go at some points though - wouldn't wish that on anyone!

How you been?  What you up to?  How are things over there?

Am writing an article for the Guide section, but will feed it through a post as well in the hope that NO-ONE goes through what we have just endured, but at least we are through it and, as you say, still here! :D
