Are hotels accepting people for 10 days quarantine. Is it possible to travel from Amsterdam to Enschede on public transport (train) during quarantine.

Cynic

Hi again.

The Dutch Government have just updated the travel advice webpage; this link will take you straight there.

Hotels are not accepting anybody for quarantine; you must have an address of your own to travel to.  It doesn't say it in as many words, but in effect, if you don't have a Dutch resident permit (so a place of your own to go to), you will probably be returned to India.  If you do have a place, you'll need someone to help you out to get food in etc.

Trains do run between Amsterdam and Enschede; make sure you get on the right part as the train sometimes gets split in Amersfoort.

Hope this helps.

I suggest you speak to Airbnb and see if they're happy with it.

Not very likely.
He should just wait until the situation is a bit better in India. I just don't understand why traveling from a high risk country is permitted.

Travelling from a high risk country is permitted because arrivals are forcibly quarantined in hotels at their own cost, so no impact to UK. No problem with direct flights from India but savvy travellers from India can arrive via any number of other countries so I wonder if the border force is  really checking all these possibilities.

LOL - a bit off-topic, the OP is travelling from India to Enschede, not the UK.

However, to respond to your comment, our daughter has been in the UK on business a few times during the pandemic; Border Force was extremely tight on both her and her husband, daily calls, knocked on the door unannounced once.

My only negative comment is about the testing and the trust they place on people to do it properly.  I could have swabbed my dog and I suspect nobody would have noticed.  We test regularly at home (wife is an NHS nurse), but it's not as reassuring as the system you use in the Netherlands (GGD).

Thanks for your input; always welcome.
