SRRV No Longer Requires Entry Exemption to get into Country

Post new topic

As this developed, the IATF on Thursday allowed the entry of foreigners who hold Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV) “without the need of an entry exemption document,” as per its Resolution 119 dated June 3, The measure was approved upon the recommendation of the Department of Tourism.

That was quite a mis-adventure for all concerned.  Stil need to get exit travel doc but that easy (I am told)

DOT Undersecretary Edwin Enrile told the BusinessMirror, said retirees are still subject to the “usual [14-day] quarantine procedures, unless they were vaccinated in the Philippines, in which case they may qualify for the initial phase of the green lanes.”

As of October 2020, the PRA reported there were 70,520 foreign retirees in the Philippines, the bulk of which were mainland Chinese 27,678; South Koreans 14,144; Indians 6,120; Taiwanese 4,851; Japanese 4,016; Americans 3,704; Hong Kong Chinese 1,870; British 1,595; Germans 792; Australians 752; and other nationalities 4,498. The injustice done to bonafide SRRV holders is enormous, as are the additional costs and damage for many.
And what has the country won by all of this? What has been achieved?
The promises of the visa privileges have proven to be worthless. Whether or not SRRV holders are residents is now in doubt. I hope PRA and their bosses will provide clarity.
What will be next?
Dare i ask, when did all these chinese come in? Food for rumours and innuendo.

Well emvaningen I do not disagree with you - it will take a massive hit - those of us that have established ourselves here will have to live with the uncertainty now that push come to shove, Gov't will not have our backs. It was at best a sledge hammer approach to a problem, at worst simply a lack of interest which will cost the Philippines an insane amount given the resources SRRV holders bring with them when they come here, screw the deposits.  And this is in many ways the very height of the wealthy countries demographics pushing retirees out to Asia. Thailand is going to make out like a bandit and having lived there a while, if what you want is paradise and value, man it beats Phil already an they have lots of programs....

So to END this EED story - this my last post with copy of Today's email on my application for an EED.

Dear SRRV Holders,

We are very pleased to inform you that the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) has issued Resolution No. 119 dated June 3, 2021 allowing SRRV holders to enter the country without the need of an entry exemption document (EED). Hence, you can return to the Philippines without worrying about your EED as it is not needed anymore. We are happy that once more you will enjoy the privilege provided for by law of multiple entry/exit.

The only visible change I see is for
all new SRRV applicants (Without a Pension)
Aged : 35 to 49 yrs old - Its now going to be a US$50k time deposit (instead of the US$20k deposit) so does it mean military/POGO bandits are still welcome.  :/ ?
Aged : 50yrs & Above will be back to the US $20k time deposit.
