I have heard rumors that expats no longer need a PCR when entering Bahrain if they have had at least one vaccine dose (I know those with two don’t need PCR).
I have not crossed in a few weeks but anyone know if this is true? (Ie crossed into Bahrain in last day or so)
Still need in causeway.. If you go Bahrain by causeway they still look for that
Well, as per the announced procedure, if you don't have two doses, you need a PCR to go to Bahrain. However, this was not followed for the most part as many people were commuting with one dose and no PCR.
BUT since Friday, there has been a big rule change. Visa on arrival via the causeway has been completely stopped i.e. only GCC citizens, Bahrain residents and Bahrain visa holders are allowed to enter. Iqama holders who used to get visa on arrival are being turned back. People who used to commute daily are stuck. No announcement was made for this change and it is not clear how long this will last. So right now, the one dose, two dose, PCR............is immaterial .
I have a Bahrain 5 year visa so should be okay. So PCR is relevant for me. Every time I crossed they wanted PCR so will get one anyway, but if they dropped that’s for those with one dose I would be commuting again…
Thanks for the update. The PCR thing was in place for a while but stopped for literally everyone who was vaccinated (one dose or two) after Eid. It is only the visa on arrival issue which was in place till yesterday at least. As I said, nothing was announced so not sure if they are applying for specific nationalities only - as the cases that I heard off were Indian and Arab nationalities (as visa on arrival is open on the basis of passport but not necessarily Iqamas). Is your friend from a western nationality?
I just crossed myself. Just looked to see app was green and one dose okay. Have a visa so can’t comment on vise on arrival
Thanks. I crossed into Bahrain myself as well but then again, I have a Bahrain residence plus am fully vaccinated in Bahrain on top of the one dose in Saudi .
xtang, did you have a PCR test result? if not, did they take your saudi one dose or the BeAware green sheild into account?
Hello.
Did you hear anything else on this mew rule change please? My fiancé is stuck in Saudi now. I think it’s only for some nationalities. I can’t find any information anywhere about it.

No I didn't have a PCR. Haven't needed once since May when Bahrain changed the rules. I never show Saudi one dose on entering Bahrain - I always show BeAware green shield. But friends have gone through many times on Saudi one dose without a PCR.

No update. Yes, I think it is for some nationalities only. As posted by JonMC above, a friend of his was able to go through and get visa on arrival. And you won't find anything anywhere as this change was never officially announced.
Hi
When crossing into Bahrain thru causeway do we need PCR test? If yes do the accept the one thru Tawakalna app?
When returning back to saudi thru causeway do we need a PCR test? If yes is there a specific lab where we get it done or what?
Please share if anyone have this info thanks
No, you dont need a PCR test to enter Bahrain if you are vaccinated and can show that in Tawakkalna. My friend(indian) just confirmed this today too.
Yes, the free Tawakkalna tests can be shown, if you get a test slot, it doesnt harm to have a test done.
While returning to Saudi, you need PCR test taken atleast 72 hours prior. there are multiple hospitals and clinics where you can get this done for ranging from an average of 15BD.
By the way, now On arrival visas are stopped at the causeway for few nationalities like Indian, pakistan etc. If you read the same thread you probably got it.
Second dose has now officially opened for 40+ as per the Hijri calendar (this means that quite a few 39 year old's can take it as well depending on birthdays) . I would urge everyone who is eligible to get it as I fully expect causeway travel to be restricted to two dose travelers only, in the coming 2-3 months.
Hi I just read Your comment about rules change on Bahrain border. I planned to leave from Khobar to Dubai by direct flight. Now there's no flights to UAE. I wanted to travel through Bahrain and already booked a ticket. Can I pass through the border ? I have UAE iqama and visit Bahrain just on transit. Can I enter Bahrain?
You can try, you might get visa on arrival..... If your nationality allows for it.
Hi guys,
Any recent update on the causeway crossing for expatriates?
My friend and I plan to cross into Bahrain on Thursday with single dose and PCR test.
Are Saudi immigration guys still turning folks back?
I have frequently visited Bahrain (maybe 5 times) in the last year without any issues. They just check my profession and let me go. Is it any different now?
Thanks in advance.
No update. It seems to be happening by nationality i.e. visa on arrival. Problems for Pakistan / Indian / Bangladesh / Sri Lankan and some other nationalities.
Try your luck and post back. Worst case, you just lose the causeway toll of 25 SAR .
Agree with you here and got my second dose yesterday morning after the announcement. So just have until 15 July to worry about PCR etc for getting into Bahrain (as spending the Eid week in Bahrain)
Getting tested every Saturday and Monday in Bahrain to ensure valid tests to get back into Saudi. I expect that requirement to be around for a while 😔
Are they asking you for PCR tests at entry to bahrain? or the single vaccination is fine? My friend does daily trips with 2 PCRs in a week in Bahrain. which is only for entry to saudi. but he says now a days they are not asking for PCR at Bahrain entry.
Hi guys,
Where is possible to get nationalities List?
If I show my ticket for flight from Bahrain airport will it be enough to issue visa for Transit?
Thank you for advice
I got asked for PCR coming into Bahrain today. Thankfully I had one… (I am overly cautious)
Just one more week to go and then I will be 14 days after second dose and only need PCR for getting into saudi

Like most things, this restriction was never announced. And there is no way to get a list. As I said, you can try your luck.
Very strange that you got asked for a PCR. I crossed just now and the guy wasn't even interested to see my vaccination (or maybe it's because I was also vaccinated fully in Bahrain so it shows in their system to begin with). I guess it depends on their mood - but it does confirm that PCR is needed for one dose. But why would you need to pass 14 days? doesn't your Tawakkalna already show the status of "immune"? mine changed to immune after 24 hours.
Interesting point though, Saudi immigration asked me whether I had a Bahrain residency. I showed him my CPR but he persisted on flipping through my passport to locate the sticker. So it does seem that for some nationalities, they WILL NOT let you exit Saudi even, if you don't have a Bahrain visa or residence.
In the early days of saudi vaccination app went immune straight away, now it does so 14 days after shot
I got my shot this month and it went immune after 24 hours. I sent email to tawakkalna asking when it will be done. They never replied but this happened .
And on the other topic of visas, a little bit of clarity: It seems that Bahrain has stopped giving visas on arrival, ONLY, on the basis of Iqamas via the causeway. But visa on arrival is still being given on the basis of passport i.e. if your nationality is eligible for visa on arrival, you will get on the causeway. So this means that an Indian passport holder will not get visa on arrival whereas a British passport holder will.......both may hold Iqamas, but that seems to be now immaterial.
Hi Xtang,
I saw your replies for visa on arrival on the way to Bahrain through causeway, thank you so much.
So, I understand from your replies that I will be able to get in via causeway holding Canadian passport and visa on arrival will be given. Also, my case is little different as I will be going with Final Exit Saudi visa, will that be an issue.
Thanks in advance
Brilliant!!!! made my day. thank you so much
Can I ask if possible to enter in Bahrain holding a Philippine passport but here from Saudi Arabia
Thank you for who will answer..
Not confirmed but from what we are hearing, no. Visa on arrival only on basis of nationality, not Iqama.
Xtang, By the way, it seems visa on arrival is now Open(few days before Eid) but it seems to be they are now strict on professions. as far as i know, close friends who had professions of Engineer, and Sales executives were able to cross. and confirming again that even if we have one dose immune on tawakkalna, PCR is not a requirement to enter Bahrain.
