Severance/Liquidation for Indirect Employees?

It's a rough situation honey that far too many face!

The contract with the property manager is for cleaning 2x per week.  The PM "employs" 6 or 7 cleaning ladies to clean 2x per week at all of their properties.  So in my mind, the PM should be the "employer" and be responsible for the required bonuses (which I understand are stipulated by law and are done to help employees through the holiday period).  It just seems strange that the property owners are responsible for those payments since the cleaning ladies are shared among many properties.  we may not have much of a choice - I do think this particular property management firm has a good reputation and provides good service.

If you only have them two days a week then you should only be responsible for that portion if any!  The management company should work it into the overall fees.

Burgs - we were charged 13th month pay for the cleaning ladies provided by our property management company each year. Since our monthly charges were based on actual hours worked, the 13th month was the average of what we had paid the past 12 months.

I know Toni at Dreams2Realty and several people who use her services. I think what she's presented to you is pretty much what you would see from any of the PM companies in town.

While it makes perfect sense to most of us that this would be baked into the rate we are charged for cleaning, it seems they prefer to be able to pass on that expense to their clients at the time it occurs. To do otherwise would require planning and savings...two things that I haven't seen a whole lot of down here!

did, then it's as I said...they asked...you paid.   Another scam on gringos.

Thanks, ddmcghee.  comforting to hear this is the convention.
It's not a ton of money in any event, it just seemed a bit strange to me.
Happy to pay it, to be honest, but figured it would be best to hear if anyone had any direct experience.

I have stayed at many serviced places and NEVER been shaken down like that. If it were the law, what are the odds that only I have been given a break?  How many of you were hit up for paying employment benefits to other peoples employees? I'll bet not many.

You are not even talking about the same thing.  But you sure are trying to create issues.
