EP got approved (appeal) 1 day before STVP expires

Hello everyone,

I'm a 27 years old young professional working in the design and construction industry for 2 years here in SG. I got my first job last 2019. I resigned from my first job without having a job waiting for me, luckily, I was able to find one and the new employer hired me. I resigned May 2021 and my last day to my previous company was on 18th June 2021.

My new employer applied for my pass (SPass) on 25th June 2021 and got rejected on 6th July 2021 due to salary details. At this point, I'm already serving my STVP because my previous company cancelled my pass on 22nd June 2021. After the rejected application, my new employer immediately applied for an appeal that same day (6th July) and got my IPA today, 21st July 2021. My new employer tried to apply for my extension on ICA but a day later got rejected because obviously I am not a tourist as I'm holding a STVP.

To be honest it's a mixed emotional feeling because I was kind of ready to go down to MOM's office tomorrow to extend my stay here so that I won't be charged for overstaying since tomorrow will be my last day here in SG but my IPA got approved and therefore I don't need to buy a ticket for extension. The thing is, IPA don't guarantee stay here so I just want to ask if there are other ways I can do to stay legally? I was asked by my new employer to go for a medical check up tomorrow morning as well and hopefully get the result from the doctor so they could upload it to MOM's site and wait for the issuance letter. Will that be guaranteed of me waving the fee for my "overstaying" here in SG since I'm just waiting for my pass to be issued? Thank you so much. I hope someone could answer my questions.

By all means, go to MoM tomorrow to sort things out before your STVP expires!
If it were only an "overstaying fee", you could probably consider otherwise. But overstaying in Singapore likely leads to being deported and banned from working here again. The rule is: NEVER overstay in Singapore!

I came to MOM this morning right after my medical. I showed my passport and STVP only to the officer and checked for my details. After that, when she saw my approved status, told me no need for extension if the the medical result will be out by today. I also requested from my medical clinic to issue the result asap today so my HR can upload it to the MOM site to get the "issue pass" confirmation. Seems okay and I must say MOM is considerate about this matter.

Actually, I was told by my HR that it's no need to go to MOM but for my peace of mind and to be safe as well, I still went after my medical. I just told the MOM officer that I'm just waiting for my medical results and it'll be out by today. And so they just told me no need for extension.

Hi Dyelibels,
Congrats for your Appeal approval.

Owhya, may i know when the company (employer) submitted the appeal, what is the status of the EP application? remain under 'rejected' status or changed become 'appeal' / 'pending'?

Shekhz

When an appeal is filed on a rejected application, your application status remains rejected and the final outcome, when approved, will be updated.

It doesn’t change to ‘appeal’ ‘pending’ etc- with an appeal.

Read through the forum, lot of posts here.

Hi Shekhz,

May I ask do we should check the result on the Eponline site or keep waiting without check ?

If MoM approves the appeal, yes it changes to ‘Approved’, else remains unchanged as ‘Rejected’

It is your choice, if I were in your place (been there a few times, to clarify), I would absolutely keep a daily tab to spot changes if any. It helps me stay updated and control the anxiety levels. Else it is just like staying in the dark with nobody to update me. At times the submitter overlooks updates, helped me get things done (personal experience again).

You don’t get any positives or negatives, if you do or don’t, so your call mate.
