I said a while back that Singapore had announced that they would count deaths not cases and would open up and live with covid as the new norm.

The new norm is more and more countries are now saying the exact same thing, the vaccine DOES NOT prevent anyone from catching it, it DOES NOT stop anyone from carrying it and passing it on, what it DOES do is lessen your chances of death.

There are heaps of videos with Highly qualified Doctors stating that once had you have better antibodies than given by a vaccine and that if you get it then get a vaccine later your anti-bodies go up.

So their professional opinion is the young & not in a high-risk group will get natural protection which could be boosted later, giving more time for long term data on the current vac's, which seems the best balance between people who don't want their children vaccinated and getting more data before they do.

Let's hope that both sides of this topic open up as it now seems to be the "new norm".

In contrast back in Oz they closed a whole state of 8 mill + for 3 deaths which seems to be like opening a egg with Thors hammer which seems to be the "new norm" for them.

Just watched a USA news video a study (700,000 people broken into 3 groups) comparing SARS-CoV2 natural immunity to vaccine induced immunity the conclusion was that natural immunity offers 13 x the protection against delta being hospitalized compared to BNT162b2 two dose vaccine induced immunity, individuals previously infected with SARs-CoV-2 and given a single dose of vaccine gave them even more protection.
The study concludes that people who get covid and then a single dose are 13 x less likely to be hospilized and have longer lasting immunity,,,,

Surely that is a strong case not to jab new borns and kids unless they have health problems where they are better off getting it?

Or flamed shot down and burnt,,, funny how the freedom loving Twitter, FB & YT crowd love that word until you say something they don't agree with then "no you cant have open debate"

Like the "listen to the science" crowd until you post information from scientists about their latest study that doesn't fit in with their "science".

I Agree the vaccines AZK, Pfizer and Moderna have been shown to reduce hospitalizations and deaths.

Just to add - the best science looks at cumulativing results of multiple quality trials - otherwise,  of course a single trial can always have the opposite result to what the science is actually showing.

I need to stay close to the San Diego VA hospital for the next few months until a foot problem is resolved.

I'm still looking at ways to get back to Southeast Asia, probably by the Spring, maybe Thailand first; Phuket sandbox.

Yes true, the thing is there are multiple studies done by "scientists" who present evidence and then people on the above sites shout down, cancel or flame anyone who presents the "science" in the studies because their tribal instincts say don't listen, read or talk to anyone who does not have the same view so the "cumulative" view ends up a cherry picked version of the actual "science" out there.

The "cumulative" view used to be the earth was flat, good job that "science" was eventually debated and put right.

All the above sites are full of one-sided views heavily censored to one side of any debate, never showing all the "science" so people think studies that do get talked about are in the minority, they are not and anyone with an internet connection not on the above sites find the studies everyday, if they choose to venture out into the real world and out their bubble.

The same is also true of political parties and their views but I'm staying away from that.

Just off to find my flame proof gear,,,,

100% agree spot on from a real world point of view, they are not a silver bullet and not as effective as first thought and no amount of cheerleading will alter the real data, which is what hundreds of thousands of medical staff have said before getting shouted down or canceled.

We should be able to see more information like this not just fed mainstream media rubbish that "you gotta do it man"

There are many practising doctors around the globe who have YouTube channels obviously I can't post them all on here, but if you would like I can PM you a channel list of doctors for you to watch and form your own opinion as to their views on what they are conveying as their real-world experience with the subject.

There is plenty of videos on how covid works with lengthy explanations links to studies and scientific papers etc.

All of the doctors work daily in hospitals and are looking at what happens when people get it what works and what they do to save lives, so it's that info I'm tending to follow rather than social media,.

As always there are 2 sides and social media has thousands of examples of removing, banning, censoring, cancelling etc you don't need me to link to prove that point you only have to look at people like JK Rowling, Ricky Gervais etc to see what happens when you have an opinion (I was going to post the wiki list but it was too long)

The 700,000 study,,,, here is a screengrab from the video maybe you can find the original paper I don't have a link to it sorry.

Thank you for the link to the study.  It is a pre-print and had not been peer reviewed.

I found a peer review of it for you to see its weaknesses.

It comes up weak on process and study size, and is not good medical science.

I will post a story illustrating lying but also telling the absolute truth.

Travelfar

There was once a fierce rivalry between two horse breeders.  One lived in Moscow with his champion horse, Sputnik, and the other lived in Kentucky with his horse, Yankee Dandy.  To settle which had the faster horse, it was decided to enter them into  a horse race at a neutral venue.

The Moscow news services carried the results of the race.  "The race was held on a dry field and a cool nearly windless day.  All the horses appeared in fine shape, their riders were in their owners colors so the spectators could easily spot their favorite horse.  It was a good race with all the horses finishing, and Sputnik finished in second place.  The American horse, Yankee Dandy, finished next to last."

The American news services also carried the results of the race, with prologue chatter similar to the Russian's.  The difference was in the summary:  "It was a good race, with Yankee Dandy coming in first, and Sputnik in second place."

Both news articles were 100% true, but the lie was in the wording.

If you pop up to my post #83 I wrote the same thing which you point out in the link to factcheck, which was in the original video I watched and commented on I have no knowledge about the Instagram information.

"individuals previously infected with SARs-CoV-2 and given a single dose of vaccine gave them even more protection."

My point was that there was a study of 700,000 people showing that someone that got covid then had a shot had even more protection than just having 2 shots.

I don't think the video strays from the factcheck link as they did point out it was natural and 1 shot that gave higher protection and not that getting covid gave better protection.

Factcheck article was talking about an Instagram post that missed pointing the natural + 1 vac shot which I agree was not what the study found they credited the higher protection to getting 1 vac shot after natural antibodies had formed in people who had covid.

Not wishing to go any further I will leave it there.

I have no trouble believing that.  However, I am certainly not going out in the hopes of catching active COVID just so that I can take a shot and have higher immunity later.  I will stick with the two shots and then see about a third one later.

Not normally but they said seeing that it was such a long climb they had to supply it on health safety grounds.

I didn't click on the link so I don't know what he said, but based on your recap, his premature announcement is taken directly from the widely published result of the conference held two days ago between UBND and the department heads of Saigon.

The date is a suggestion, not a goal, and can be achieved if all areas of the city come together, if the vaccination processes smoothly and quickly, if the number of affected cases go down, if the proposed Covid card comes to fruition -- if, if, and if.

Moreover, that plan is for Saigon only, not the country at large.

There are some really bizarre things going on. My wife rang about getting a delivery from Vinmart, which is two blocks from our house and in our ward, they said they cant deliver to us. Yet, Bach Hoa Xanh, which is in a different ward, can deliver. Total numbnuts running the Covid restrictions.

You can say a lot of things about Ken Duong but you certainly can't say that he is not an optimist.     There is a quote that says people will believe a lot if their living depends on it, or words to that effect.  His living depends on helping people, Vietnamese Americans in particular, move to Vietnam.

Since July 14, we had 4 large deliveries from Lotte (I think it's in ward 8.)  The first delivery came to our apartment (ward 2), the last 3 came to the checkpoint 1.2 km from us (at the yellow building called Bánh Bông Lan Cột Điện on the small street connecting Phan Chu Trinh and Hoang Hoa Tham, also ward 2.)
