Hello there,

This is considerably a good offer.

I disagree at current FX rates. In last 2 years salaries gone down 30%!!!! In USD. Although as always depends on skills and quals whether good or bad salary. Also often free accom is awful so many regret that. Also it will be taxable so will free food. So that has an impact on net salary.

Also of course consider factors like career advancement and whether you are giving up a secure job now for a not very secure expat job. Eg if no career advancement and you are giving up a good job at home then a big NO. But if unemployed now and this gets you into a great career change then a big YES.

It depends on your lifestyle.. A few of my foreign friends from Europe and India enjoys it here despite the unproductive economic condition which is a global sentiment.
However, this definitely better than working in a bankrupted countries like Greece or other EU member countries hit by the economic recession.
At RM8,000 per month, the salary range is about the average income earners for many Malaysian professionals.. Bear in mind, without the perks and benefits that you've been offered.
Ultimately, you decide what's best for your future. Are you looking to equip yourself with a multiple facet experience in cultural, and other factors or are you influenced and driven by money? This can only answer by you not others..
I would say go for it as opportunities like this don't come easily. 😊

As I posted elsewhere 8k is low for a Malaysian middle class person.

Per government figures a senior science teacher in a state school gets over 6k a month. Plus loads of cheap.loans. That is for half a days work.

Then they can do tuition. That pays 5k.plus. Two teachers then earn 20k plus. To have a lower middle class lifestyle you need that! A business friend here earns 2 million a month. That's a good salary :)

Many parents of kids at international school paying 3k a month work running food stalls even. They have 2-3 kids drive a car and own a house. You do the math.

Even my ex Indo cleaner earnt over 3k and she has no quals.

A typical house will cost you 800k now. A car 100k min to be lower middle class. That implies a salary of 900*0.8/3.5=17k per month minimum salary to maintain that lifestyle. In my experience a couple with degrees will earn more than that. Many earn more.

Averages of all including east Malaysia are rather silly. And often these figures are quoted. And they ignore "untaxed income" which is a major factor. Expats can't access these sources of income lol

But as always as I said for an unemployed person a good salary. For someone pulling in 5k USD in India a bad salary! And as noted by someone's else here lots of Indians earn 5k USD plus in KL. That is a reasonable salary.
