Thanks.  I actually saw found this after I posted the request above.  While it still pays lip service to "realizar investimento imobiliário no Brasil com potencial para geração de empregos ou de renda no País.", I'm not so naive as to miss such a transparent loophole, particularly since Israel doesn't even bother to mention the "requirement".

It will be interesting to see how long this dodge survives Bolsonaro.

Not sure what you mean by loophole.  Article 35 clearly states "without prejudice to the provisions on visas for investment purposes."

abthree,

I have looked at the visa options and though there are some that may fit i.e. the investment route; R$1.000.000 is out of reach at this point, so we are on the lower ends of the scale.
Whilst we look at how much we will have to invest, work wise what skills are desired in the market at this point that would be considered as essential and could be seen as a way of providing input to the economy, either directly or indirectly to enable work permits to be obtained.
Is there any suggestion you could give to assist us in our search for the best way to obtain entry and opportunity to reside in Brazil.

This guide is somewhat dated,  but still relevant, so gives you something to start with:

To work in Brazil, a person needs to be sponsored by a company.   The easiest way would be to find a company in your country with operations in Brazil to sponsor you.

Coming to Brazil as a tourist and trying to find a company is possible,  but almost never works, particularly for a person who doesn't speak fluent Portuguese.

The cheaper option here would be investing 500k BRL in a company to obtain the investor visa.
Finding a company to obtain a work visa can be tough I think.
Best luck on your path.

Hi all,

I had a quick look at all of the replies.

I was granted an investment visa and the visa in my passport allows me one year from the date it was issued to enter Brazil and the ‘PRAZO’ states ‘INDETERMINADO’ :). I also asked this question at the Brazilian consulate in London and they said that the CRNM will not have an expiry :)

Thanks,

Did you buy the property and then apply for the visa or did you apply for the visa with an intent to buy a property and the buy the property?

I had already made an investment in Brazil and then applied for the visa a year later.

The main thing to prove is that you have made an investment, even if it’s just transferring the money into Brazil with the intention of investing in the future. Your transfer will need to go through the central bank of Brazil and needs to be registered with them in order for you to start your application.

The money can be transferred into your own personal account but will then need to be linked to a company or a company which you can set up.

Thanks,

Yes, Business investment CRNM is indeterminado from the start.   My previous post neglected to mention Business investment.  Real estate investment has an initial term of 2 years, followed by the 9 year rule, unless you are 60 or older.  There are many different categories, so it can get confusing. As I mentioned above, the term of your residence will be written on your temporary visa along with citation of the respective law.  That same legal justification will appear on your CRNM.
