The eVisa program began in February 2009, and was most recently updated effective July 1st, 2020.

There isn't any indication that the program is going to end.

Visa On Arrival (VOA) for tourism and business visas (sponsored through the VOA agency) is currently not available, and there is no verifiable information about when that might be allowed to restart.

Currently, Vietnam doesn't check vaccination status.

So my question is

Do I need a PCR test only to fly (Vietnam Air) but not to enter Vietnam?

I will be flying from Australia in 12 days.

Wadey
- @Wadey

No G.

No COVID test to enter OR by Vietnam Airlines.

You might have seen a recent post by me showing the requirements listed by Vietnam Airlines.

24 hours later, the government issued this decree.

HOWEVER, if you or the casual reader is coming to Vietnam on a connecting flight through a third country, then a COVID test might be required.

As we always say, best to check with all ticketed airlines to be sure.

I'll be flying SFO to SGN nonstop on Vietnam Airlines, so no test for me.

Cheers!

Hello,

I'll fly with Scoot  to VietNam on 24.05. The airline company (Scoot) is still requrired a PCR - Covid test before boarding in Athens(Greece). If I didn't do  Covid tests, most probably they will not let me bording  on the aircraft. I hope they will change teir policy accordingly in next 10 days.
- @sailorbg
Thanks for that information, proving that it's important to contact airlines directly.

Vietnam and Vietnam Airlines no longer require a Covid test before boarding. What is the situation requiring a $10k health insurance policy covering covid?

COVID Insurance is no longer required.

I also exchanged messages with my visa agent today and she confirmed there is no longer a requirement for COVID insurance

Hey OB,

I could use some advice. Applying for a visa only to find the one I used for many years seems missing.

Could you recommend a reliable and legitimate agent for a visa online?

Thanks, OB that would be much appreciated.

No need to use a visa agent Peter.

Visa agents are offering to help for a fee, but unless you've waited till the last minute, no need to pay them anything.

You are always welcome to send me a private message.

Cheers!

I came back through Moc Bai (Cambodia) border on Sunday and they were most certainly insisting on proof of vaccination.

Who is "they"?

The Cambodians?

No one is checking at any of the airports (arriving in Vietnam) and I've now seen about 100 reports in the Facebook visa info group that people crossing into Vietnam from Cambodia are not being checked for vaccination status.

It's very difficult to accept your report at face value.

"They" is the Vietnamese border control. Why would you think any different? The conversation has nothing to do with Cambodia. My post was in regard to re-entering Vietnam.

Entirely up to you whether you accept my report. How else would you like me to present my evidence, other than face value (my own personal experience)?

Immigration can ask for anything they want. It only surprises me that nobody else has reported this.

Respectfully, you may be missing the point of this thread.

The purpose here is to update people on OFFICIAL government policy.

As PogiWayne has pointed out, immigration officers can demand anything they want.

Sadly, it sounds as if you have encountered possibly corrupt officials.

I say that not because I doubt your story, but because so many other people are not reporting that AND the official government position is that no vaccination record is required.

Good for you that you were prepared and didn't need to pay extra coffee money.

Got it. Much better explained at your second attempt.

I was sharing that although it may no longer be the governments official position, it was my experience and what I encountered.

The posting of my experience may have been able to save someone from being fleeced by actually taking their vaccination records with them, just in case, if they have them to hand.

I've posted a couple of things on here that I thought may have been of some assistance to other members. This doesn't seem to be the case on here, so I'll refrain from posting again.

I hope you will change your mind about that.

I just took a look at your posts all the way back to your initial introduction
and I'm glad you take the time to get involved.

BTW, I just checked with the face.book visa advice group, and the first person to reply confirmed that he'd been asked for vaccination documentation by the Vietnamese authorities, but he said it was as he was leaving Vietnam, headed into Cambodia.

He was told it was necessary because he'd need it in order to  cross the border (which is true).

So travellers might be asked for proof of vaccination when going both directions.

I had no problems entering Vietnam from Singapore.  The only things needed were my passport and e-Visa.  Since Singapore dropped their Covid testing requirement before Vietnam, I didn't need to take any tests.  I will have to when I go back to the US, though -- the US still hasn't dropped their requirement, and apparently don't plan to.

Thanks for that update.

Amazing that if you enter the U.S. by land, no COVID test required, while the requirement remains at international airports.

Q. If you fly to Singapore for a look around for 3-4 days then no covid stuff in and back to VN I take it? only if your onward bound that correct?

I flew to Singapore because there were no miles flights available to Saigon that didn't involve a transfer from Narita to Haneda and a long layover.  I was there for one day only, but I entered Singapore with no problem.  I could have stayed much longer.

Change to VN e-visa application(?)

Assisted my ex-compatriot (see what I did there :) ) today with his new e-visa application (border run, air to BKK-return), and he pointed something out which has either changed on the e-visa application, or he just doesn't remember it being asked before.

As before, the application asks for "Entry Point" but now also requires you to include "Expected Exit Point".

Looking at his current e-visa, valid until June 8th, it shows his "Entry Point" (Phu Quoc) but no indication of an "Exit point". I'll report back once his new e-visa has been issued to let you know whether the new visa now includes an "Exit Point".

Even if the e-visa has changed, it may all be inconsequential as I've read on a couple of threads here that a change of airport for arrivals could be made without consequence. Hopefully if the new visas do indeed show an "Exit Point" that for the sake of people's convenience the "Expected Exit Point" airport/landport declared for departures can also be flexible(?) (operative word being "Expected"?)

"3 Business Days" and I'll let you know what the new (?) e-visa says.
Guestposter822
Received new Visa today right on three days . doesn't look like there is a backlog ..

It only states entry point . nothing about exit .

Good news.  Did you buy health insurance or not?

Good stuff. Thanks Digga.
He couldn't recall being asked for an Exit point on his prior application, so wasn't quite sure.

Do you remember whether you were asked for an Exit point when applying?

No didn't buy extra cover for health just standard insurance cover Emmanuel .

I am sure there was nothing about exit point on visa application .Aidan .

It probably matters not, just wondering whether VN Immigration had recently added the request for this info from the applicant. If as you said and as my friend from Canada had suggested, it was never required before, makes me ponder whether people's future e-Visas will include this information.

edit: Apparently, the exit point is a required field when completing the application but is not, as of yet, included on the actual e-Visa.

- @Laurent futur Nha Trang

Hi Laurent. At this point in time there are no e-Visas, subsequent to your initial entry, issued without interruption.
By this I mean that prior to the end of the your 30 day e-Visa, you must apply for a new e-Visa, exit the country, and reenter using the new e-Visa.

Judging by reports, there does not seem to be any problem with getting consecutive e-Visas (so far), but it is not what one might call uninterrupted.

Hope this helps you.
