Job offer in Abu Dhabi

Driaan

Hi I know this is perhaps been asked alot but, I have been offered a job which pays 35 000 Dirhams per month. I have a wife and 2 daughters (11 & 9 years).
The offer includes relocation fee, school fees, medical, life insurance and return tickets once a year. Housing is for my account.
My question is, based on this info is this a fair offer and will I be able to live ok? And save some money - Obviously this is highly dependant on lifestyle etc..

Any inputs feedback will be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi, i received a similar offer in Abu Dhabi for the same wage. The only thing that raise a red flag to me is that i will be responsible for the travel expenses, and the company will refund only travel expenses made through the travel Migrant agency to you, alleging that the reason for it is to have a confirmation of your availability and as a proof of your seriousness and commitment to join our working team. Did you received this same statement in your offer letter?

How can anyone tell me if this is an scam or not?

thanks

If you are the chairman of Eitihad this is not a fair offer.... If you are a primary school teacher this is a more than fair offer. Without context its impossible to answer your question. Will your wife work for example? This would take a huge weight off your household budget even if she earned 5 or 6k a month.
For sure you can live as a family on 35k a month plus housing + schooling + flights etc... but it depends what you want in terms of lifestyle and savings.

Hi, thank you for the replies. It is a senior technical position, engineering technician. My wife will initially not work and I will most probably go over a month or 3 in advance to get settled. She is a qualified teacher and might look for opportunities later on.

Well your wife could earn 15k to 20k as a teacher depending on her level which would more than make your lives comfortable IMO. YOur job offer sounds reasonable although i note you do not seem to have a housing allowance... i'm not up to date on Abu Dhabi housing rates but in Dubai that would eat around 1/3rd of your 35k monthly salary which would make things a little tight on one salary.

In terms of the salary, it is ok to live in and as you rightly pointed out, it is highly dependent on your lifestyle.   For example, when I lived in Dubai, I was on a salary of around 60K plus benefits (full schooling etc.) with 2 kids, struggling to break even every month.  Why?  because I chose to live in an upscale community, go out and travel often etc etc.   AD is much more expensive than Dubai by the way (in terms of rental costs).

Rent will, by far, be the biggest expense.  As you have two older kids, I very much doubt that you will look for anything less than a 3 bedroom option.   That will take 1/3rd of your salary (more in a nice / upscale area).
