My new employer (European Bank MNC) will be applying for my EP next week 22 November 2021 through Ernst and Young. EY said it will take 3 weeks, but I see many application taking longer. How long will the process take? When can I expect to put my papers in my current company ? I want to resign after EP approval only. Thank you.
Best practice is to always submit resignation AFTER you get EP approval, usually HR also advises to never resign before you get your IPA. Regarding processing time, it really varies - as you could already deduce (from reading other posts) some applications may take shorter than 3 weeks some take longer even 1-2months, it really depends.

Well my friend, unfortunately no one knows how long the process will take.. It comes when it comes, so just enjoy what you do now
Just make sure they don't forget to submit your application (ask them to give you notification once they submit it). And you have the right plan to only submit the resignation only after your EP approved.
Cleaner applications with a strong justification, credible companies and strong applicants come through almost instantaneously. I’ve recently spotted approvals coming through in less than a week.
If any educational institute or other background credentials are questionable, takes longer.
Provide all info, in entirety and have a strong cover letter from your employer- you will not be disappointed.
Bejoybkn: Thanks for sharing here on the forum, good insights and the facts prevail- cleaner applications get almost spontaneous approvals.
Hi
My EP is submitted on 13-Dec-2021. Still pending status. All my earlier EPs approved within 2 weeks.
I joined this consultancy and working to a govt client since May-2021. Now the client offered perm position and applied for EP. Is 7 months period too short to apply for another new EP? Any chances for rejection?
I don't think the time period is an issue. My last EP was 5 months ago and new one got approved this month.
MoM does not like job-hoppers.
So if you change after a very short time (less than a year) or several times within a few years, your application has a lower chance of approval.
It is better to stay in each job at least three years!

Ep applied: 16th dec
Status as of today is pending ( no queries and question so far)
Some background on company and offer.
I got an offer from one of the US bases but SG registered firm(registered in 2020) and now they want to start the operations in SG.
So I will be the first employee of the firm in SG. I got this offer because the owner and COO of the firm are my previous bosses/friend when I was working in India. They want to join the firm as they want someone known to start running the business from here and expand team.
Offered :60% hike ( as this is new firm and as of now have no insurance and variable pay policy) + my role will be big like running and manging the SG businesses.
Not sure but what are chances if EP approval . Also little worried as status is still pending from 3 week.
I am 15year experience in Financial sector and working in singapore from past 6 years.
I feel like its random. It takes between 2 weeks to 2 months approximatelly. I am waiting for mine for 5 weeks and status is still pending, while friend from same company that sits next to me applied in December and got it in 12 days. Considering are qualifications are the same and job position is the same, I am not sure how it works and you cant really predict how long it takes.
Let me correct you here, it sure isn’t random.
How can you state that you and another colleague are the same?
Things that vary for every applicant,
1. Your educational credentials
2. Your experience
3. Your skill set, relevant experience levels and specialisation
MoM looks at various aspects of the application, including job specifics and company details.
If your colleague got an approval in 12 days, sure his/ her candidacy was cleaner.
Applicants with educational background from India and a lot of other countries are often asked to even provide additional verification, or MoM does it on their own- all this delays the approval.

Hello, sorry you are right, I have not used the correct word. It is surely not random, but it is hard to predict. Would you think that if you provide educational verification that is provided by the company that works with MoM prior to applying for a work pass would take less time?
As for the friend, the company, experience, age are the same. The difference is nationality and education. However, our both educational certificates were accepted equally by MOE when we started our Ph.D. here, but not sure if it matters, because I had to verify mine for some reason, even tho it was accepted by MoE and I finished my studies here. I got no idea how it works, so I just speculate how long it takes.
There are a few threads where we have discussed the verification agencies, the time they take, costs and who’s more effective and reliable etc. please scan through.
Yes, it helps if you get it done before hand and provide the report to MoM while submitting the application. Now that you have already submitted your application, don’t do anything- wait for the outcome.
Nationality and educational institutions are not a minor variation, it is a HUGE one.
Did you know a lot of applicants from India specifically have leveraged fake educational certs etc to get employed in SG? There are a lot of dodgy universities too- it’s very normal to get questioned unless you are an industry veteran earning a very handsome salary with 20-30 years backing you to get away with ease.

In my case, I have finished Master studies in Serbia and pursued PhD in Singapore. When I arrived here 4.5 years ago MoE (not MoM) accepted my Diploma as it is the biggest Uni in Southeastern Europe counting more than 100k students. Many Serbians before finished same University (even Faculty) and were employed in Singapore (before covid).
In Academia, after PhD it is common to apply for a PostDoc position, and normally students here submit their PhD thesis and apply for PostDoc position with their Master degree, because it takes a few months to defend your thesis and get Diploma. It is a standard position and the majority PhDs here get the job that way.
Nevertheless, HR of my company (A*STAR/P&G) when applying for visa, they said that my uni is not in the drop list, hence I need to verify my Diploma. Do you know how they get those lists? Because I saw that the list had some much smaller and less recognized Uni's in my or surrounding countries but not the biggest ones. Moreover, my previous Serbian friends were never asked to do so (before covid).
Prior to applying for my visa in November, I have paid Veremark to verify my Diploma and it took a standard 3 weeks time. Then on 2nd Dec, we submitted an application. Since then it is pending and MoM only reached once to Veremark on the 3rd of December to ask if the documents they received regarding education came from them. I really expected that those three weeks in November that I verified my Diploma plus spending 4.5 years to pursue my PhD in Singapore (NUS) would speed up my application. Maybe I am not waiting too long (5 weeks now), I don't know. I understand it is a very important factor and it should be always triple-checked. I see that common waitning time is 2 weeks - 2 months. How about rejection, do people likely get rejected earlier or they can wait more than a month and get rejected? Because I am not really sure whether it is a thing of waiting for possible approval or I can also wait 3 months and get rejected, haven't read such experiences here yet.
As for nationality, I got no clue how Serbia stands among the others? Would you know? My other Serbian friends would normally get visa within 1-6 weeks (before covid), with same educational qualifications.
Sorry for the long text.
Thanks
There are factors MoM evaluates, during an EP application process, which you have no influence on - e.g. the status and foreigner ratio of the employer, how your salary compares to market norms (and MoM's standards), whether there are local candidates that could do the job instead of you, etc. Also, if your case officer is overworked (or lazy), for sure your application can take longer.
Until the final decision is made, there is of course a chance for approval or rejection.

Thanks a lot! This forum and admins are very helpful! Definitely helped me understand a lot about the process.
Update on my EP. Applied on 13 Dec 2021, rejected on 31 Dec 2021. Reason: Company didn’t update their financial info in the application.
Re appealed on 02 Jan 2022 and finally got approved on 25 Jan 2022.
Along with me another colleague was initiated with EP processing and without financial info. But it got approved on 8 working days.
Conclusion: there is no yard stick for MOM approval process.

Hi, I am Malaysian, I recently have tendered the resignation letter for my first job under probation, because I have find better opportunity from another company (switch from SP to EP and salary higher, A1 company).
My new employer apply my EP IPA at 24/02/2022.
I tender my resignation letter to current company at 04/02/2022 and my SP has been cancelled at 06/02/2022 (due to one day notice)
I have cross check with all my friend here, their EP processing time all within 2 weeks.
I know I should wait my IPA approved only tender my resignation letter, I currently have little bit regret of my decision because I now can only stay in singapore for 30days, I wonder will my EP processing time affected?
My industrial field is construction.
