Exit and reentry Philippines to satisfy new tourist visa status

Post new topic

James Gardner

I am nearing the end of my 3 year stay and must leave. I plan on flying to Singapore and hope to return after 12 hours there. I am trying to find information if that time will meet the requirements. Any tips or past experiences are welcomed. Thanks in advance

Not an answer to your question, but since you're going through the expense of going to Singapore while not stay a couple days for a mini vacation?

The expense is airfare going there, not staying there.

If you go through immigration, you’re going to have to quarantine in Singapore. They don’t have a VTL (vaccinated travel lane) agreement with the Philippines yet.
Here is my question, don’t you have to get that all important visa stamp in your passport to be able to return and reset the 36 month max tourist stay, or is it enough to just fly to another countries airport, turn around and come back?
(Which, in acknowledgment, is the exact same question being asked by the original thread starter, I’m just also very much interested in the answer).

I am not sure if the laws are the same now, but it used to be that you could just leave and turn around and come back. In Thailand they called them visa runs and I don't know if they had a name for it here, but you could do it. Everything has changed with COVID so who knows. Peace and love

A ticket from Manila to Singapore is like 3000 php ($60). I am quite sure staying there for a few days will cost a lot more than that,

You can also pay a little more and get a refundable ticket!  Anyone tried that?

James Gardner

The ticket there is 3400 php, the return is 11,000! crazy! I don't want to spend any more money than I absolutely have to we are building a house

@James Gardner so what did you end of doing ? My 3 year is up in December. Since you have to have a ticket out also, does one go phl to singapore to phil and a one way to singapore again ?

You need THREE a "throw away" ticket too   :)

The 'throw away' ticket I believe needs to be purchased within 48 hours of departure.

Arent you talking about when aiming at get it refunded or something?

It would make no sence if not being allowed to buy even half year before a two way ticket e g Austrralia - Phils - Australia with back to Auistralia before the first tourist Visa expire.

(Although by "tourist visas" can be extended in years it dont make sence neither 1f923.svg to not accept ( !!! ) two way tickets as leave ticket e g  USA - Phils - USA leaving 6 months after arriving as many living part of years in both countries can have can have anyway.)

@Lotus Eater Coach is Right, there is no 48 Hour Rule for the Throwaway Ticket. The Exit Ticket Travel Date has to be within the 29 day allowed First Visa Stay.

Four scenarios that I believe exist:

1) "Rent" Onward Ticket which is really not a seat on a plane - Just placeholder. Valid for 2 days to 14 days depending on what you want to spend. Although this can be a popular choice since it is cheaper, I am too paranoid to use in case the return flight get delayed.

2) As has been mentioned, purchase a Cancelable Ticket (24 Hour Clock from Purchase Time). Good if you have a short hop to an Asian City for quick return to Philippines; but not practical if you are returning from U.S. with Layovers since you have to show the Ticket when you Check In to first Departure Airline.

3) Actually purchase a One Way ticket from Manila (Always cheapest Departure city) to Macau, Hong Kong, etc. via Cebu Pacific or Scanner Air. Basic Ticket without Seat Choice or Flexible Change offers. Check occasional Online Promo Sales for real cheap fares.

4) Purchase a Refundable International Fare on an Airline that you will use for future travel, even Domestic. However, I am told that there are some Fishhooks on these flights cuz they may charge you a Partial Cancellation/Transfer Fee, even if it is deposited in their site for future travel.

I will be traveling to USA and returning Dec. 1st - I have already purchased my exit ticket for Dec. 25, 2022 Travel to Hanoi, Vietnam.

That way I can show to Immigration if asked when I apply for my Emigration Clearance Certificate ECC - Although that does Not show as a requirement - Just In Case. The Older I get, the more Paranoid I become. No longer a Risk Taker like in my younger years.

I remember seeing one of Paul 'Old Dog New Tricks' blogs when he returned from Vietnam and at the check in his 'throwaway' ticket had expired. I will try and dig out a link to the blog.

Hi all, my 3 years stay in Philippines has expired. This is what I am doing. I am going to Singapore on the 12th of this month. I bought a single to Singapore. I am returning on the 15th Sept to Philippines with a 30 day return to Singapore, its a throw away.

I was told to have a Swab Test 48 hours before the flight and also fill in the Singapore arrival card on the cell phone. Once in Singapore get another Swab Test before returning to Philippines and fill in one health pass.

God what a mess travelling now a days.

ibusan1046

@James Gardner Hi, you will need more then 12 hours. Swab Test takes 24 hours plus all the aps needed for health checks take time. I have posted how iam doing this. Check my trip to Singapore  and back to Philippines.
