requirements now to enter Cambodia

Hi all. I want to be sure since my date to enter Cambodia is approaching within some weeks. I read over another thread regarding requirements to enter. At some point, a Covid PCR test was required to enter but Joe mentioned back in November or so, this requirement was dropped to enter although a quick test on entry was needed. I have my tourist visa now so I can cross that off the list.

Is there an update on the Covid PCR test to enter and can anyone confirm that it was not required as of January or February 2022?

I think I have all the other requirements met just would like to find out information on the PCR test since it is rather expensive.

Thanks all.

I highly recommend contacting the airlines (both your departure airline and your arrival airline, if they are different) because you won't be allowed to board your departure flight or continue on your connecting flight unless they agree that you meet the Cambodia government's requirements.

Also, it's conceivable that an airline might have stricter restrictions in place than those of the Cambodian government, or the government of the country at your connecting airport(s) might have special restrictions.

By following the link to the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Washington DC website I discovered this last official document addressed to the airlines on this subject:

embassyofcambodiadc.org/embassy-updates/state-secretariat-of-civil-aviation-notice-236-dated-17-november-2021

However, below that post in the January 2022 archives, there is another post on the subject of covid restrictions:

embassyofcambodiadc.org/embassy-updates/archives/01-2022

Which refers those in need of an English translation to this Phnom Penh Post article:

m.phnompenhpost.com/national/omicron-patients-can-stay-home-pm

Although it refers to having a quick test on arrival, it does not specifically say that a test is not required before boarding your aircraft to travel to Cambodia.

Maybe a call to the embassy would also be helpful, probably much more so than asking here in an anonymous forum, where trolls  will simply tell you to search Google for the answer...

Also, the current information on the US Embassy Cambodia website still says you must have the pre-arrival test:

Ahh. Thanks! I think will get the PCR test before I go. I already have an appointment in California for it. If I don’t need it ok. But I would rather have it and not need it than not have it and they ask. I’ll ask the airlines as.well. I have to connect in Seoul Korea on the same carrier.

Btw. I’m m leaving Mexico in about two weeks. Hope you get back to Vietnam as you want. Things look like they are moving there. I’m gonna live in Siem Reap. Give things some time. And see how it goes.

Suhaeli

You need to get PCR test, the price is USD 135. If you negative you can go, but if you positive, you need
day to be quarantined for 7 days, the fee is your own money. But if you still positive after 7 day quarantined, you need to go back to quarantined

JoeKhmer

You mix up two things.

To fly you need a PCR test and a doctor signed (wet and not black) and stamped (Original) not older than 72 hours prior to arrival. (Ask your airline as some use the 48 hours before departure rule.

On arrival a quick test will be done and you got the results in 20 minutes.

That's it.

Cheers

Joe

Just confirming, I arrived Monday 21st. Feb in PP.
PCR* checked, starting in Manchester, with vaccination travel "passport" dates, and visa.
Looked at my insurance (I got a fresh one mentioning Covid cover) but they didn't ask.

No check at CDG Paris, but Bangkok did, and PP looked at everything!
Quite complicated, but on my trip, organized and everyone very helpful, Air France especially!

*I got a Collinson (UK) 3 hr test, with printed but convincing "original" + signature, which passed OK.
Cost down a lot, £66, about $90, still expensive, but some were £139!
Good luck,
Will.

Thank you for posting, very helpful

One question about your insurance : did you have to get insurance from the provider they recommend, or did you just show them a document that shows that you have insurance at home, and that COVID is covered?

This is very helpful! Thanks a lot. I have the testing part covered and it is good to hear about the insurance cover not being asked for. I will be leaving for PP in a few weeks. Thanks for the updates and confirmations on what they required.

And if you arrive in Cambodia and they ask you for the document but you don't have it, you can always tell them that an authoritative source on an anonymous website said it wouldn't be necessary.

Hahaha. Thanks OB! I just checked the Korea Airlines Cambodia entry requirements online and they don't name the health cover as a requirement either. It costs $90 for 20 days for Forte Insurance.

Willdduff

Kurterino,
I have an annual policy from my bank, and when I checked, page 43 mentioned Covid cover.
I called them a few days before I was leaving, and they readily agreed to add it to the lead page and post it immediately.
This was in colour, adding extra authenticity.
There was a grey area about quarantine without symptoms. Since it was agreed that this case allowed self-quarantine, I felt relaxed about that risk.
I did check that my usual GH would accept me if positive, with triple vaccination.
Hope this helps.
Will.

Here is a screenshot of current entry requirements taken from this page of the embassy website:

embassyofcambodiadc.org/arrival-procedure.html

Anecdotal experiences are always good to know, but the casual reader should be fully informed about entry requirements, whether or not certain officials are lazy on certain days.

Thanks again OB. For whatever reason, I cannot use Forte Insurance and get them to accept either debit card I have. Strange but true. One card is Charles Schwab which I have used often over the past years for many different expenses throughout Cambodia. Anyways, I know people are not asked to show proof but I bought a Covid 19 coverage policy in excess of the coverage required and for less.

I guess I will wait and buy you that beer you deserve when you make it to Vietnam. Hope to see you there in Hanoi or wherever your boots take you later this year. I don't know when I will get there but I am definitely gonna be a lot closer.

Thanks for always providing the good information. Much appreciated.

MP -
OB made a good point, re insurance. I have never been asked in years before, but always had it.
I WAS happier, now, with a document which mentioned Covid particularly!

Alas, my dear older globe-trotting sister simply took a chance and did without, when at 85+ it became impossible - "they can just bury me wherever..."
Surviving at 106 in Oz, I hope to see her there soon.
Will.

Ocean Beach.

Please all refrain from posting links to Cambodian embassies wherever they are
They are the worst source of information, their websites are usually not updated so they give false information.

Look at this link:

1. Insurance is no longer necessary.
2. Hotel booking for quarantine is not necessary anymore as you can go in self quarantine.
3. $2000 in cash. That's long time ago that that was a requirement.

So again to clarify:

1. PCR test (negative) no longer than 72 hours before arrival (Cambodian immigration) or 48 hours before departure (depending on the airline).
Signed and wet stamped by a doctor

2. Vaccination passport or document.

3. Telephone number in Cambodia in case they need to contact you.

4. Valid visa, electronic or obtained through an embassy.

5. On arrival a short test will be performed with the result known after about 15 minutes. If negative go as you please, if positive go to your self quarantine address.

That's all folks!

If you want to check yourself, go either to the website of the Ministry of Health or to the excellent Facebook group Cambodia Visa and Work permit group.

Cheers.

Joe

Hi Joe - all sensible, and I also had very indifferent embassy results in the past.
But - this time, evisa got my name wrong on my current visa, could not get it corrected.
In despair, I phoned the UK embassy - and a Ms Leah fixed it!
Sent a new one in 10 minutes!
Kudos to her...

Hi will ,  I'm travelling from Manchester,  pcr test at the airport, 3hour results. I thought they  Send you an email with the result how did you get a doctor to sign it also how do you print out at Manchester Airport I read you need a paper copy in Phnom pen is this true thanks pal IOU a beer

Willdduff

Lee, when I checked in, I explained I needed a paper signed copy, and they said come back to them when I got the email/3 hours. THEY printed it there, but it looked exactly like a wet colour original, and was accepted at Phnom Penh. There seemed only those two options.
Best of luck. :-)
(come to the Capitol Bus café...)

lee 1962

Brilliant thanks for that
Capitol bus cafe ?
Googled it ?  Nothing
Phnom Penh what street ?

My current experience:
I entered from germany via bangkok on 16.08. in the morning. On the plane you get three small forms to fill out, health declaration, visa application and customs declaration. First the health declarations are collected, no one looks at them, no questions. Than you come to the visa counter, immediately I was approached by helpful officials, the ordinary visa now costs $40 (at least yesterday and for me), they did not want a passport photo after 2 minutes I had my visa.
Then I was tested (I am not vaccinated, which generally caused great astonishment - 'never vaccinated before?' 'no, and I have never been infected' even greater astonishment and laughing). The test was worth its $5 just for the appearance/show of the doctor and the other test subjects (apparently Cambodians) - very amusing. The test of course negative and on to the last counter.
At the very end the customs declaration was collected, again no one was interested or asked questions.
All very friendly relaxed and easy. Welcome to cambodia 1f600.svg

Thank you for info I going soon Denis

@Utsato

Good report, thanks.

The $5 you paid more for the visa is for the assistance resulting in the visa ready in 2 minutes, very convenient.

Yes, Joe very comfortable. The officer explained to me how to get the visa extension, asked me to take a seat and disappeared with my passport, application and money. Shortly after, another officer came and returned my passport. It couldn't be better and is definitely worth 5$ to me.
