Overstaying Visa

Post new topic

talamban
I have been living in the Philippines (Cebu City) for about three years. I took a 1 week Vacation trip to Vietnam and returned to Manila on October 25, 2019. My 3 year stay period will expire October 24, 2022. I have a trip planned and already ticketed back to USA on October 30, 2022 to attend my granddaughter's wedding. That will be about 6 days past my expiry date. Can I just pay the Overstay Fee in advance for that time before applying for my Exit Clearance. If so, how many days in advance can I apply and receive my Overstay Approval? I have a local BI office here in Cebu City where I obtain my Visa Renewals every two months.
Thx,

I heartily recommend you change your flight. If you exceed your three years, they will hit you with a 25,000 peso fine, PLUS extend you for four months automatically as a final extension, another 12,000, PLUS charge you for another ACR I card, even though you are leaving.
I speak from experience, having just gone through it myself. I had to ante up 40,000 pesos +. And I don’t believe you will able to do it from the satellite office, but that I’m not sure about.
PLUS, they will take ONE MONTH to process your paperwork, and they won’t give you an exit clearance until it’s all paid, so you won’t be able to catch your flight anyway. This is something they take seriously, so be warned. Change your flight, or go to immigration more than six weeks before your 36 months expires and talk to them.
One more thing, if you have overstayed your three years, you will need to make a copy of every extension receipt since you came here, otherwise they will charge you another 1500 pesos “research fee” just to make those same copies, plus your normal 500 peso fee for your exit clearance. And, it takes 3 days to get it.
Good luck

Blacksheepjuno,
Thx for the detailed reply. Yes, I have already begun looking at advancing my USA trip a week sooner to avoid the hassle. The extension receipt requirement is So Ridiculous since they have a copy of every Renewal Visit on their Computer system. I have had more than one "Discussion" with them about this requirement, which began after they quit Stamping the passports and went to their paper receipts. I try not to get too animated for fear they will Target my file and make it even more difficult.
Thx & Regards,

Typical Philippine Quagmire.

It's even harder to navigate through the mess with the onset of age, ambiguous laws, regulations  and language barriers.

This could be a perfect business for a Filipino/American. . . . A mentor business or agency, a one stop agency cutting and navigating through all the red tape facing Expats.

Good idea in theory. But as my Yorkshire grandmother used to say ' you don't get owt for nowt ' The attendant Suhol would really eat into those margins making the fees most expats would find prohibitive..

And will get worse as far as immigration fees, the country is 12.5 trillion in debt so all tax will go up

I agree. Eventually it'll cost as much for the 13A Visa as it does for the SRRV....meaning a $20,000 bank deposit, just to become a perm resident on the 13A....that's what it'll come to , meaning it'll be a cash grab by the BI..

But bank deposites dont need to stay bank deposites, they can be invested   :)
If they are wice, then they would lift restrictions for SRRV so it can be used for business investments too, because Phils is short of business capital, so Financieres get much bigerf share of the earnings than in our home countries.  Its extra short of  business capital in the provinces, I suppouse extra short because few rich Manila Filipinos even think of provinces   :)   This make there are many more bargains in the provinces than in Manila.
