Hi, I was wondering what is the best Vietnamese bank to use that we can access off shore without needing a Vietnamese mobile number to access? We are currently using HSBC in Việt Nam! but WIZE who we use to transfer funds does not work with HSBC.

Kind Regards Peter

@Autosparky, I found the customer service at HSBC to be about as bad as it gets. Unfortunately, they are the best bank for transferring funds to the USA as other Americans have told me they couldn't get money out of other VN banks when overseas. It also helps to have an account with HSBC in the United States (if that's where you're trying to send money there). I worked in VN for 2 years, transferred all or part of every paycheck to a bank in the USA at a cost of about $35 for the fees on both ends.

As far as other countries and HSBC, I can't help you.

HSBC stands for Hongkong Shanghai Bank Corporation and that might tell you (see Wikipedia if you like) as much as you need to know. They like their customers to have gobs o' money. Little guys like me can hardly get their attention.

Wise doesn't work with any bank to send money OUT of Vietnam (based on multiple reports in the forum).

A search result for "banking" in the forum will provide you with a ton of input on the subject over the past few years.

Check out CIti Bank. Also check out having an RSA unit. Every idea becomes something to consider. No matter what moving money costs money, normal.

In most every case these big bank names HSBC, CITI etc. They just pay for the franchise name and not an operating satelite of the main bank. Banks now work much like the big hotel names visa vie Sheraton and Ramada.
