Thx a lot Elain for the encouragement but u'll always be our first event organiser.
Hey everybody,
Sorry I haven't been logging on or organising outings for a while but I've been suffering from a neck problem so I can't use the computer much and also I've been so busy with work. However, Elain does a great job with that. Anyways, I'll try to be more active,
For the next outing on Friday 30th of September, I suggest doing something during the day, we could watch a movie at Galaxy Cinema (in Manial) at 1:00pm (movies cost half price, 15LE and 20LE for 3D movies)
Then, we can have some lunch in any nice restaurant by the nile or in Mohandeseen. There is "Quay" which is just by the nile on the opposite side of Galaxy Cinema. It has beautiful food, drinks and shisha (minimum charge of 60L.E. before 6:00pm and 100LE after 6:00pm). If that is expensive, we can go to Roastry Coffee or Tuscanni in Mohandeseen (both closed with no minimum or shisha). They also serve lovely food and drinks. Prices are reasonable.
We would have to reserve places in these restaurants so plz confirm here if u r interested. If u have any other ideas for restaurants, plz post them.
We can also go to any coffee shop afterwords, if u'd all like that.
I was thinking of suggesting a day trip to Ain Sokhna for the holiday, probably on the 6th or 8th to avoid Friday prayer, to rent a boat for the day, do some swimming/ sunbathing/ shisha/ chatting/ music... as you like, then get a meal after sunset in Porto Sokhna perhaps. I've done this before and it's fun and relaxing
I don't mind the beach in a mixed group, but I'm not sure if our female members, more specifically our lovely Muslim ladies, would feel comfortable doing this... As long as we have mostly known, trusted members along, it should be ok, so as not to make anyone feel uncomfortable.
What do you think?
We would need a few volunteers to drive there, passengers paying for fuel between them I think, and if anyone can help out with boat hire that would be useful as I don't know where to start! (A friend organised it for me last time.)
Elaine
P.S. Don't forget to let Rania know about this Friday's outing, hope to see lots of you there
i like this idea and want to share but unfortunately i will be out of Cairo till 13 October :-(

I would love to come but i can only go if it is on the 6th so il keep an eye on this post and firm up my plan closer to the time!
Dear Rania and Elaine
Great ideas, unfortunately I will not be able to join any of them, this week I have to attend an event related to my work and I have a business trip during the second week of October, I have some contacts in Ain Sokhna if you are looking for a nice boat or Yacht so please call me of you need any assistance regarding this issue, I feel sorry that I will not be able to join your lovely outings but I wish you all the best

I think that's a fantastic idea. I think I can join and Maree also. But I think it would be a good idea to also share it with all ur friends on FB with details and prices. This way we can get more people together and maybe get some volunteers to drive us there.
Hope it works out
PS. How r u feeling now? Hope u're better.
Fantastic, we have some willing victims for this outing! I mean volunteers Glad you're keen.
I'll make a fb event too and hopefully get a few more people along
Thanks MTawfik, contacts would be great if you can send some numbers and names on, thanks!
Elaine
P.S. thanks, I'm 90% better now

As usual, great idea
This outing need a lot of effort to arrange it very well so i think we have to ask one who has an previous experience on this outing "I think Mohamed Tawfik, can help us on that, as he said he had some eyes their, ohh i mean he have some contact, hee (i just kidding with my brother), and we need a no. of ppl to decrease the cost per each one.
what do you think, to make a BBQ party on the beach...{i don't know is it workable with policy of the beach or now, let us know...}
{Elaine, If you need a help pls drop it to me and i will do my best, to all my best friends}
Hello!
I am in Egypt still.. most of you dont know me,Pity:D.

Hey Malsi Thanks for the offer, help would be appreciated, especially in booking a boat cos if I call up somewhere speaking English the price will quadruple!!
I'm not sure about the beach BBQ - most of the beaches in Sokhna are privately owned so wouldn't allow it, and I'm a veggie so bbqs are not really my thing :p
The more people the better for the price, obviously. Please if people can confirm 100% (I know people struggle with this idea ) by Monday then I'll know what sized boat to aim for. If anyone can provide contacts for boat hire, please do so
I'm gonna aim for Thursday 6th as it's a holiday, then the weekend is free for people to enjoy as usual
Thanks,
Elaine
Hi I guess i missed the iftar ?? because i just arrived to cairo 2 weeks ago ... do you have a group we can meet or gathering i am new to cairo and i don't know any one here ...lonely
Sam Haddad
Hi Samo, how are you
There is a trip organized by Elain next Thursday 6th of october, the details are below
We'll travel to Ain Sokhna in the morning, hire a boat (size depends on how many people are coming) and spend the day swimming, sunbathing, chatting, reading, shisha-ing as you like Bring your own food & drink, even a musical instrument if you can play! :p
We need volunteers to drive there from Cairo please
The more people that come, the cheaper it will be
Please confirm 100% yes/no by Monday if you're coming so I know what size of boat to plan for.
If anyone has contacts for boat hire in Sokhna, please pass them on
Hi
Well yes it's looks interesting trip , but i need more info.? please can i talk to you or to any one over the phone to get more details please.
I can Drive but i only hold Australian Driver licence.
I do speak English and arabic.
Sam
Hi Sam You'd be welcome to join. The only info I have for this trip is an approximate price range of 100-170 EGP each, depending on numbers, and the boat we're going to book holds up to 9 people. So far around 6 people have confirmed.
Anyone who definitely wants to come please let me know by tomorrow This is just cos there are limited places and it would be a shame to have people ducking out at the last minute and then have empty spaces on the boat
We have one driver so far so I guess one more would be great, obviously someone with a car who can drive in Egypt
Hi Pom are you the only pom here .....just kidding hope you did not get upset
Yes i am in , but as you all know i am new here where to meet up? Details please.
Sam

Hi,
sorry I didn't reply before!
Yes the passengers should split the petrol costs Thanks for the offer.
Spaces on the boat are technically all used up now (they hold 9 passengers)- I also have this as a fb event and have 7 people who confirmed on there including myself, Rozypearl and Malsi, plus from the forum, Sam and yourself Hossam. I expect a few people will cancel at the last minute, that's normal So there may still be one or two spaces but not guaranteed.
Rania, you mentioned Maree might come? She hasn't confirmed with me yet Can you check with her please? Wouldn't want her to miss out
If we get a lot of other people interested, we may be able to have two boats if there are two available. I should hear from my friend Omar about that today
Elaine
Yeah Elain, that would be nice, as I don't know till now if i will come or not, and am afraid to confirm and to say that am coming, and after that my vacation will be rejected, also many other ppl are thinking about to join u, but I think they will reply on Monday as u have mentioned before that the dead line is on Monday, anyway I will let u know, just waiting for my manager to have another fight, as i told her from a long time ago that i need to be off on october the 6th, but she forgot to submit my request:(
I wil let u know everything once i know it Elain, hope it will work and not to be too late:S
Aw poor you! Although the prospect of a fight is exciting :p I'm sure you'd beat your boss down I'll speak to Omar about availability of a second boat, just in case
Hello Elaine I wonder what you have been up to? its been a while since we talked . hope you can get in touch thanks
loooll Elaain, I hope i can beat them alllll coz actually they have got on my nerve:):)and I do really appreciate ur efforts and ur help:)
OK guys and gals We have reserved a boat which holds up to 30 people!! Please please please bring a friend along if you can, the more people we have the cheaper it will be and the more fun! We have around 14 confirmed so far, from various sources.
The boat cost LE 3500 in total, so you can do the maths - over 20 people is a must, 25 or 30 would be great to bring the cost per person down to more like 130LE each I'll call round as many of my friends as I can to get numbers up, but your help would be really appreciated
We can confirm exact time and who's driving whom in the next few days, once we have a better idea of who's coming. In the mean time if those who are offering to drive could post on here:
Driving from where in Cairo?:
Number of Spare seats?:
Any Preferences for Passengers (smokers/non-smokers/male/female/don't care)?:
Anyone who doesn't have my mobile number, please send me yours via PM and I'll return the favour
Thanks, I know this will be great fun
Elaine

Hi Nora welcome back to the forum. Hope you're well.
Just a piece of friendly advice, but you should probably change your profile pic to something a bit more modest unless you want lots of attention Let's just call it being culturally sensitive Plus sharing your number on the forum (in the other topic) is not a good idea I know you were worried about being hassled before, that's all, so best not encourage it
I would host 3 or max 4 small persons.
No smoking in the car .. men and females are welcome .

MCITP wrote:Really! I've just seen the topic from start and it was talking about something in Ramadan!! so when r u all gonna meet on Thursday? why don't u just make a list of all who is gonna attend better?
Hi,
it's a fast-paced environment on expat-blog new events all the time
Not sure of exact time yet, but we wanna make the most of the day as we only have until sunset on the boat.
Everyone, I suggest we leave Cairo before 8am at the latest, to arrive by 9am at Ain Sokhna and have a full day on the boat. We could meet earlier... but I'll be sleeping in the car!! :p
As for attendees, most are on Facebook, not on the forum, but I'll put up a list of (first) names tonight, just so you can work out who you're talking to on Thursday!
Should I put your name on the confirmed list 'MCITP'?
Hey Elaine i understand thanks for the tip i will change my picture now that you mention it. thanks again. and thanks for letting me know what is going on. Do you still have the same old phone number? can you send it to my inbox?
Thanks!
best norah
