American Clothing Sizes

Tariq1983
So I’m about 5’9 220 lbs. Wide frame but deff more muscle than fat. I’m having trouble finding clothes my size are there any clothing stores in the Philippines that cater to American sizes. I tried on a three XL last week and even that was too small. In America I wear an XL shirt. I’m in the process of losing weight as we speak eating healthier and working out and walking as much as possible but until then I would like to pick up a few extra things.

@Tariq1983 Just think if you were me - 5' 10" 265 and fatter than muscular HaHa.
Went to get an X-ray today for my Hip and Spine; and was politely told by the Sheepish Nurse that their Machine was not capable of penetrating my size body. I went back and told the Doc that they could not give me an X-Ray. When he asked why, I told him they said I was just Too Ugly. LOL. BTW - Doc Visit was ten bucks for an orthopedic specialist. Senior Discount.
I just buy shirts and short and socks and shoes (you will never find Fat Feet Shoes here) from Amazon and have sent here with my essentials; Community Coffee, Wheat Thins, Camelia Red Beans, and OTC Meds like Nexium, Centrum Silver Vitamins, Aleve, Nyquil, etc.
I use a Consolidator in Hayward, CA for mostly my Amazon Orders.  Website: shippingcart.com/

There are fat Filipinos so I suppouse possible to find enough WIDTH
but very few Filipinos are tall, so finding the LENGTH can be a biger problem.
So you can find SHORTS but problem to find trausers without looking silly in them by to short legs  :)

But ukayukay  =second hand clothes come from abroad so perhaps you can find suiting size in such.

Asian "XL" is NOT same as American/European "XL", its much smaller.

@coach53 With short pants leg,I guess Tariq could just shorten his leg by twelve inches; but then he would have lost one foot and he can just Hop on it.

@Tariq1983 Go to Ukay Ukay stores and ask if they have any U,S. size XL or XXL sized clothes. Hope they speak English or just use hand signals, Or order some from Amazon, shipping is relatively cheap.

I have ordered Boxer Shorts & T-Shirts from Hanes, (2X)  shipped to my re-mailer and then FedEx'd to me. I was disappointed in the quality and had been buys Hanes for years. Next time I will switch to Fruit of the Loom.

I never was able to find slacks that fit me, I also had trouble in the states. Tailors in the mall were too expensive, but my son called around and found a tailor that makes custom clothes.

He had me supply my own material which I bought at the mall, it was inexpensive. He made me three pairs of slacks and altered a another pair that I bought online while in the states which was an awful fit.

The three pairs and the altered other pair came to a total cost of $100 usd. The quality was exceptional.

I'm 5'8  and 16% body fat. Not a huge guy, but fairly lean and muscle.

Shirts wise, Medium - large US sizes fit me.  for local shirt sizes, must be Large.

34 waist, and yet when it comes to jeans and briefs that don't have a calculated measurement, i have to wear XL, which if you think about it as an American/US size, is embarrassingly huge (for me, anyway).

Amazon will ship many clothing sizes to the Philippines and take care of customs if any.  But it will not be the same price as Filipino clothes.

I have never been satisfied with slacks or trousers bought online. In person I would have to try them on to make sure the waist, length, feel of the material and fit was correct.

@Enzyte Bob Most of the clothes that I buy from Amazon are a Repeat of some that I bought and were satisfied with while still in the States. I agree that this can be a problem with new items. I bought two pair of shorts recently, and the only difference from the same Seller was the color. One of the shorts waist was a couple of inches smaller - supposedly same size. Shoes are a nightmare cuz I have Fat Feet 5E Width which are inconsistent even among those found in US. When I go back in November, this will be a priority on my Shopping List.

I recently ordered a Promonitor 800 speaker from Amazon to replace a damaged surround speaker for my Definitive Technology 5.1 speaker system. It was $20 even shipping which I thought was not too bad since I live on an island in the Visayas plus it was the only new speaker I could find. The cost of the speaker was about $160 so it was $180 total. I saw used ones on eBay for $100 but the shipping was $80 to $100 so it was a no brainer to buy the new one for the same price. I did buy a used white speaker on eBay for $45 and had it delivered to my sister in law's house for a spare. White ones seem to be cheaper. My speakers are black so I will just switch cases with the bad speaker. I'm in no hurry for the speaker so it will be in the next BB box.

I maintain my Amazon Prime account and have the things I need delivered to my sister in law's house. She packs everything is BB boxes and I just pay the shipping for the boxes. It takes 3 months for the boxes to arrive so I plan accordingly.
