Where is Chopin?
Everyone has a Chopin in their heart. He may be poetic, melancholic, sensitive, and fragile; He may also be brave, strong, persistent, and fearless. Where is your Chopin?
Compared to the fun-filled first half, the second half's "Where's Chopin" will provide the audience with a deep reflection on how humanity can bridge divides in the world. In 2010, composer Kapuściński decided to create a “reaction video” inspired by Chopin's Preludes, Op. 28. He recruited more than 150 participants in 12 cities worldwide, who wore identical black tops and were filmed with high-definition cameras as they listened to the Prelude. Through post-production, each person's facial expression changes were synchronized with the notes of the piece. When the Prelude is performed live again, these collected expressions will be recreated on screen.
"These people from around the world, who have never met, are brought together by music. It’s very warm and meaningful," Jenny Q Chai said. "In this divisive world, musicians are working hard to bridge gaps."
