Tourism: A Promising Start to the Year
The tourism industry in Mauritius is off to a great start this year. According to the Minister of Tourism, Steven Obeegadoo, the country welcomed 305,197 visitors in the first quarter of the year (January-March). While this is good news, the government's main goal remains the generation of tourism revenue. With around one million visitors in 2022, the government is aiming for a total of 1.4 million tourists by 2023.
MCB named Best Private Bank on the island
The Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) has been named "Best Domestic Private Bank in Mauritius 2023" by Euromoney magazine as part of the Global Private Banking Awards. This prestigious award recognizes excellence in private banking, including customer service, product development, and commitment to the financial sector.
30 young people awarded finance scholarships
On Thursday, 30 Higher School Certificate (HSC) graduates were awarded the Mauritius Finance Scholarship Scheme 2023 at the FSC House in Ebène. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries such as Mahen Seeruttun, Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, and Shamima Mallam-Hassam, President of Mauritius Finance.
During the ceremony, Minister Seeruttun congratulated the scholarship recipients, acknowledging their hard work and the support of their teachers and families throughout their educational journey. He also encouraged them to move forward in their academic and professional careers, urging them to give back to the community and support future generations. Minister Seeruttun also highlighted the strong relationship between the government and the private sector.
