Expat Drone Pilot (Velos & Advanced UAVs)
We are seeking an experienced expat drone pilot specializing in Velos UAVs and similar advanced drone systems for a 6-month project in Nigeria. The pilot will conduct aerial surveys, mapping, and LiDAR-based operations while training a local team of Nigerian drone operators.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations, aerial surveying, and geospatial data collection. Training experience is a major advantage.
Responsibilities
Drone Operations
• Pilot Velos UAV and similar high-performance drones for mapping, monitoring, and surveying.
• Conduct aerial LiDAR, photogrammetry, and orthophoto processing missions.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian airspace regulations.
Training & Capacity Building
• Train a team of Nigerian drone operators on advanced UAV operations.
• Provide practical and theoretical training on drone flight, maintenance, and data processing.
• Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for local operators.
Data Collection & Processing
• Plan and execute BVLOS and automated UAV missions.
• Process aerial imagery using Drone2Map.
• Work with GIS specialists to integrate drone data into land and urban development projects.
Regulatory & Compliance
• Ensure all UAV flights adhere to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regulations.
• Maintain proper drone flight logs and safety protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience operating Velos UAVs, fixed-wing, or VTOL drones.
• Expertise in drone-based LiDAR, aerial surveying, and GIS data processing.
• Strong knowledge of BVLOS operations and mission planning.
• Hands-on experience with Drone2Map.
• Prior experience training drone pilots is highly desirable.
• Ability to work in remote and field environments.
Candidates must hold a valid UAV/drone certification from any of the following:
• India: DGCA Certified UAV Pilot – Issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
• UAE & Gulf: GCAA RPAS License – Issued by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
• USA: FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate – Issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• UK: CAA Operational Authorisation (GVC or A2 CofC) – Issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
• Europe: EASA Remote Pilot Certificate – Issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Candidates without an NCAA RPAS License (Nigeria) must be willing to obtain one upon arrival.
