ESL Teacher

An ESL Teacher instructs students whose first language is not English. The goal is to teach the English Language Proficiency Standard Course of Study and help students achieve grade-level proficiency in all academic areas.

Responsibilities:

Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons to a range of classes and age groups

Developing and implementing instructional materials and lesson plans that cater to students' language proficiency levels and cultural backgrounds

Encouraging and engaging students to speak in English and maximizing their talk time through oral tests and presentations

Assessing student progress and providing appropriate feedback on oral and written work

Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students and fosters language development

Collaborating with other teachers and staff to support students' language acquisition across various subjects and grade levels

Displaying excellent classroom management skills and using effective teaching methodologies

Staying updated on current ESL teaching practices and incorporating new techniques and technologies into lessons
