Urgent advice please by Dave2249
Hello I hope this is ok to ask here. In Spain at the moment, have just put an offer on a house in the Llíria area and the estate agent is asking for 5000 euro as a reservation fee which apparently is to go direct to the seller. Is this normal, ...
A compraventa is not a reservation fee that one pays to essentially take the house off of the market which is what the OP is talking about. The reservation fee is a nonsense one and when challenged on it every agent we dealt with backed down but ... Read More

If they have accepted your offer already and you have it in writing(preferably) then this fee is a not necessary legally speaking, despite what they will tell you. It is however a too common practice here in Spain and to be fair if you do things ... Read More

Seriously, if the husband and kids are not keen then why drag them? Sounds like a recipe for disaster, Spain isn't easy at the best of times. Work is hard to come by and throwing teenagers in at the deep end in a Spanish school is only going to ... Read More

Non lucrative visa and remote work for Canadians by Asmaa_H
Hi everyone! There does not seem to be a lot of Canadians here but I will take my chance anyways. I have a job in Canada that allows me to work remotely. This, according to several Spanish lawyers, should allow me to have the Non lucrative visa. ...
It is illegal to do any type of work on a non-lucrative visa, hence the title of the visa. That said it appears some US consulates state otherwise for one reason or another and there are plenty of people over her here flaunting that law but the rest ... Read More
medical marijuana by onadventure
My husband and I will be coming to Alicante area in March for a 3 month visit. I use medical marijuana for sleep issues. Anybody know the laws about bringing edible cannabis into the country? How about purchasing in Spain?
Yeah I would not want to be bringing any into the country. That said CBD is widely available if that helps and I don't know exactly the process for membership at a cannabis club but it may be worth trying to contact one of the clubs or even a ... Read More
Questions about moving to Spain by AndrewPowellYoung

If you are looking at buying an old finca or country house(or any other for that matter) then I would strongly suggest you do use a lawyer. Notaries absolutely do not do the required conveyancing and given that pretty much every rural property in ... Read More

Unless you plan on starting up an SL company you will have to register as an autonomo which is the same as being self employed. The fees can be quite high so you would have to check with a gestor to see how much it would all cost depending the size ... Read More

What happens when you declare your US earnings to the Spanish taxman? I'm genuinely interested as if you are on a non luc visa then surely there should be no earnings to declare. And also to be clear it is only some US consulates that interpret ... Read More
