DNI by boludo1944

Can anyone suggest the least stressful way of obtaining a DNI. Ive been living in Buenos Aires for almost 3 years on a tourist visa. Ive gotten to know Colonia, Uruguay quite well! Thanks in advance. Randy

NotesFromABroad

We started our DNI work before we left the US .. knowing we were going to live here on a permanent basis. It still took not quite 4 years for the whole process to be finished and now we have Permanent Resident DNIs and we are very relieved not to ... Read More

How do I bring my cat to Buenos Aires? by justinerene

I am considering moving to Buenos Aires within the next yr, but one of the issues that has me very concerned is that I have a cat. I've heard horror stories about people moving to foreign countries and their pets are in quarantine for 8-10+ wks, ...

We flew here 4 1/2 years ago with a Standard Poodle..from the US. Continental would/could not let him fly in the cabin because of regulations stemming from Argentina regarding animals entering the country .. according to Continental, all animals ... Read More

I agree, Palermo Soho/Viejo is Trendy, Recoleta is touristy but also quite nice .. with beautiful buildings, parks and museums. I walk from my home in Recoleta to Palermo all the time .. not Soho but the Botanico area. Palermo is huge! Each ... Read More

Where to find a true French baguette?? by sabinabowler

Almost everywhere here sells these loaves of bread that they call baguettes, but they are impostors. Many of them are hard and stale before they're even sold! I've tried L'ebi and Matilda's (though they do have some good cupcakes) and fairly good ...

WynnWoods, I walk by Hausbrot all the time and never paid attention. I will go there this week .. nothing like Taste testing all the bakeries in town ! Read More

I love L'epi and after almost 4 years of living here and not liking any of the bread, I will be content with their version. I buy the miga for sandwiches, the queso for sandwiches also and the almond croissants to make sure I have to starve myself ... Read More

Locals please give me your opinions on these apartment listings. by BootsRemsberg

Should I not assume that 2 dormitorios means 2 bedrooms? I cannot tell if these have 2 bedrooms. I need a 2 bedroom in the $700 USD range or less utilities included. I would like to live in a neighborhood similar to Palermo. I am not yet fluent in ...

NotesFromABroad

I like Belgrano a lot, you can take the Subte to Recoleta etc but it is definitely a bit out of the way as far as not being in the "heart of the city" .. I don't know about rents but the housing costs for buying are better than in Recoleta in a lot ... Read More

Hello Everyone...I'm new and ready for my initiation! by BootsRemsberg

Hello Everyone! Reading through some of the discussions I am delighted at how friendly and helpful the majority of this group is. Many forums out there are filled with posters who only wish to debate and pick on newcomers...now as I make a fool of ...

NotesFromABroad

We have lived here 4 years now and we arrived not fluent at all in Spanish and it was difficult at times. You need to understand what people are saying to you and there are many times when you will need to be able to talk to people. When renting an ... Read More

Looking for English-speaking doctors in the B.A. area by beautiful-stranger

Hello, Does anyone know a good dentist and a pediatrician in B.A. area to recommend who is FLUENT in English? I faced the situation when the doctors say "oh YEAH, I speak English!" (they just forgot to mention "with a dictionary" :), and we both ...

NotesFromABroad

I would first ask if you are living here and insured? We used Omint insurance when we moved here and all we did was ask the doctors on the list that they give you, if they speak English, they always did. And they made house calls. Read More
