I doubt it. As I read it, you have to be a tax resident in 3 of 4 years preceding the year with 90 days, for it to apply. You will not achieve tax residency based on the information have provided, but better to clarify with Hasil. Read More

Dressing alt/gothic in Malaysia? by GuestPoster30010

Hi all! I feel like this is a bit of a silly question but this is the only place I can think of to ask. Will I get discriminated against or be treated differently if I dress alt/gothic? I'm talking about band t-shirts, fishnets, heavier makeup ...

micern

@lilrooYou are likely to be treated differently, but not to an extent where it should be worrying. Different style, I know, but there are lots of cosplay in Malaysia, which seems to be accepted - at least in KL.My impression is that Sarawakians in ... Read More

Tax residency under 182 days by borsus78

I've been in the country in 2022 for 4 months and paid the 30% tax rate. I've been told that from 1 Jan 2023, the clock resets and the 182 starts again. Why aren't the two time periods linked?

micern

@borsus78 They are linked. Take a look at 7.1.b in HASiL's regulations: https://phl.hasil.gov.my/pdf/pdfam/individual.pdfFrom March onwards, you can get a certificate of tax residency. This should help you in your annual filing. Read More
