Cosmopolitan cities by Julien
Which are the most cosmopolitan cities in your opinion? From what I've seen in my short life, n°1 is New York In Europe I think London is the most cosmopolitan place (Barcelona is interesting too)... Which other cities would you add to the list?
The world "cosmopolitan" implies à mon avis not only the coexistence of several cultures gathered together in a relatively small space, but also the acceptance of these cultures - since you can live with lots of foreigners in the same town and just ... Read More
Strange sayings by Sinbad
I just posted a reply to someone in which I used a very idiomatic expression. I don't think the guy I was replying to was a native English speaker and so he may have had trouble understanding what I meant. That made me think, are there any strange ...
Sinbad & Jo Ann >>> It's an Oscar Wilde quotation actually; quite clever guy ;) - and it's now a big cliché in personal ads in Germany, meaning: I don't mind being a single, but YES, I'm seeking (and seeking and seeking and seeking and etc.) Read More
Reverse Culture Shock by Guesposter58
Hmm. All last week I was back in the UK (mixing some work, with a short break). The last time I was back there was in November last year, and also the previous August. One thing I noticed this time though was I seemed to be suffering more from ...
I don't know if it's me not being used anymore to my home country or my home country not being used to me anymore. Last time I was in Paris, a year ago, I swore myself: okay, the first waiter who happens to be unfriendly to me, he gets the bloody ... Read More

I really need your advice!! by CaliforniaLover
Hi everyone, You've probably already seen tons of these topics before but I really really need a second (or third) opinion! I'm 25 years old and from Germany. I've been with a software company for 2 years. I have a university degree, I'm a ...
I totally agree with dmscvan. Ansonsten: London ist eben schweineteuer, und unser allerseits geliebter Erschaffer dieses Forums hat gerade eine absolut miese Londoner Job-Erfahrung hinter sich... Wie gesagt, mach einfach das was Dir am ehesten ... Read More
Mexico by Julien
About the blog directory, I heard that it's wrong to have Mexico in North America.... Should it be in Central America? Thanks in advance for your help!
They consider themselves as "Americanos", America being the name of the continent and not of a single country. U.S. citizens are officially called "estadunidenses". But then again, the debate has always been ideologic. Economically speaking Mexico ... Read More

How often do you use the plane? by Julien
I am flying to London again in a couple of days. It's the second time this month :D I think I used the plane at least 30 times last year (and I liked it as I like travels) What about you?
I travel by plane twice a year and frankly I hate it... Hope someone soon invents travelling Star-Trek-style, just beaming up and down. Now THAT would be a real progess... Read More
