@thailand4meThat's right! That's exactly why Thailand government let you come and retire in their country. So you can teach them how to do things differently than what they're used to for hundreds of years!I have one rule - When you are a 'visitor' ... Read More

Retirement visa for Australians by ThailandHereICome

So I just received an email back from the Thai consulate in Sydney. Apparently because Australian passport holders are not eligible for e-visa application, they are required to have health insurance when applying for the 90 days O visa. How is that ...

ThailandHereICome

@petercurr55So you're saying that if I'm applying through the Thai embassy and not the Thai consulate in Sydney I wouldn't be required to have insurance? That seems very odd. And I didn't even know that you CAN apply via the embassy. I think it says ... Read More

Extend 90 days by Teatowel

Anyone know if it's possible to extend the 90 days visa for a further 90 days instead of 1 year? If so how many times can you do this? I need more time before I decide to go the whole way and put 800k in Thai account.

ThailandHereICome

@TeatowelBy the way you won't have 90 days to decide, you only have 30 days to decide, because you'll need to transfer the money to the account 60 days before you apply for the 1 year extension. It's a simple math Read More

As far as I know it's 90 days and then you go for the 1 year. Most people don't seem to have an issue with it but I guess you can always suggest that to immigration that you need more time to decide and see what they say? 😊 Read More

ThailandHereICome

If you can't afford leaving that kind of money 'just sitting there's maybe you can 'play' with it as long as you still have it deposited when you renew your visa. If not, maybe this 'Thailand retirement ' thing is not for you? πŸ€” Read More
