US State Department & Long Term Rental Prices in the DR by TomElGato

I think my friend is being scammed by a Dominican woman by Nrshows
I friend went to the Dominican and met a lady. He stayed with her and her family. She convinced him to buy all kinds of stuff to “set her family up” so she could come to be with him in the USA. She is always needing more money for issues ...
The odds are good your friend is being taken for a ride. Your friend should be using an immigration lawyer from his country. This will give him an ally as well as control over the visa process. I did this many years ago, I’m very glad I did, ... Read More
Paying bills in Dominican Republic by Priscilla
Hello everyone, What bills do you pay? If you are renting, are bills included in the price of rent, and is this common practice in Dominican Republic? How can you pay your bills (e.g. online, at provider's store, at the post office)? Which is ...
Up until last year I paid all my Dominican generated bills with cash. Any bills I have outside the DR I pay electronically ie mortgage and credit cards. It used to be a lot easier for me to get my money into my hands in the DR. Most of my income is ... Read More

Since 2004 they allow you to enter with a oneway ticket. As far as overstaying I can't answer that for you. I've heard that they've been hassling expats in Sosua over the overstay issue lately. Read More

I just finished a project and I paid Mason's 1,000 pesos a day and lunch. Laborers 500 and lunch. On big projects it's better to negotiate a price for the entire project. That prevents the job being stretched out and driving up your costs. Read More

I'd have to see the brick build you're talking about but most brick builds are no more than a facia layed in front of the actual structure and are not structural. For that you need to be ready to redue it. It's a good and lucky thing it ... Read More

Yes that's true. It used to be 5 years but recently changed to 3 years. You will need a lawyer to help you if you have been living together for that period because it's just like common law marriage in the states. If she doesn't hire a ... Read More
