An ex-US Merchant Marine Surveyor and Inspection Specialist who has been teaching for 20 years in the USA and now 5 years abroad. Love to travel the world and study different cultures, histories and today's societies. Though there is no great feeling watching your students grow-up, get married and come back to say they remember you as a great teacher that helped them get where they are today and I have had 8 tell me this and 300+ still stay in touch via emails and Fb.

I have been to Fukuoka many times and love the city and really wanted to teach there, but it never happened?
Thought the city was clean and beautiful. Loved the water near by and around. People for the most part were very friendly and they have a baseball team and stadium, the highlites of my first visit and reason I went back several times more.
A little pricy and the food was not that impressive. Had to opt for American restaurant chains and pubs were hard to find and I don't do disco or raves.
Besides being a career teacher where ever life places me on the game of life I have written and published two, fair at best, books (collection of my poetry and an ESL adventure children's book and I am about to start work on a serious ESL/TEFL guide to Expat Teaching across Asia and the Middle East.
It's a part of the world most foreigners are scared to visit, so I want to see what all the hype is about. I'll be sharing what I like or don't like if anything?
Nothing yet as I start in three weeks
Teaching and living the China experience
Located about an hour north of Xiamen is An Hai in Jinjiang and the food once I found a few places was great, the people very happy to see a foreign face and the students filled with energy to learn English or just talk over dinner on the street.
China has one very bad point? It is dirty as hell once outside the three major city areas (Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing). An Hai is the worst I have encountered on the planet and I have been around the globe 4 times.
Exploring, teaching and writing
Children are always excited to see a foreign teacher and the questions and guidance the offer is amazing though one must be wary also. Good food, lots of foreign teachers and pubs. Beautiful city and even fished the sea a few times on a drift boat.
The females seemed to wear the pants over there and they were over bearing with a lot of the foreign teachers as bosses and parents. The ladies had an attitude and they could be mean if the sun wasn't in the right place in the sky on any given day or time.
