The people were friendly, most spoke English, Spanish or both. People were helpful even if they didn't speak English. There is no suburbia. Public transportation is cool and useful. Holiday traffic doesn't exist. Donner Kebabs at 2 am are heaven sent. Its a great place to walk at night. Kindergartens are amazing and so much more advanced and welcoming to both little ones and family. Tax is already included in the price you see on items so there is no longer any weird math before you purchase. tax pays for EVERYTHING so no more worries about the cost of any social programs. Great for families!
The people who don't like Americans, REALLY don't like us. While they are few and far between please do not engage them, things can get dangerous fast. Social venues and enclosed spaces need more ventilation. I wasn't prepared for how very expensive their telephones and gasoline (petrol) were. If you value the side mirrors on your vehicle fold them in whenever you park. If they don't fold in prepare to lose them. There need to be more Donner kebab shops for 2am hunger pangs. Shopping requires you to have your own bags but if you forget most places don't sell bags for you to use. 17% tax is a lot when you are not prepared and just because the items you brought over have a 220v mode doesn't mean they'll work when you plug them in there.
