Are you happy in Japan? by Priscilla

Hello everyone! According to the 2016 UN World Happiness Survey, Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland are the happiest countries on earth. How about you? Are you happy in Japan? Do you feel happier today in your host country than before in your ...

I'm sorry you've had a bad experience. I am an outsider (as you say) and have not experienced the problems you have. Discrimination exists everywhere; how you deal with it is still under your control. Read More

I want to study in Japan and i am looking for a City- Fukuoka by roshan.khadka396

Hi, I am Roshan from Nepal. I want to study in Japan and i am looking for a City. I wan to apply for Fukuoka. I have listened that, nowadays it's very difficult for visa problem after 6 months when we reach there, for nepalese. And there, ...

I've met a number of Japanese who spend a lot of time in Nepal. Perhaps it is the climate similarity of Sapporo with Nepal as to why so many from Sapporo spend so much time in Nepal. You might consider Sapporo as a possible destination in ... Read More

I lived in Switzerland for 3 years and strongly disagree that they are even close to being happy. It is a beautiful country, plenty of money floating around, but the people are generally speaking 'emotionally constipated'. Japan is a very ... Read More

How easy is it to get a job in Japan for foreigners? by mrdrew

Anyone here moved to Japan for the purpose of finding a job on arrival? I want to know if immigrants can easily find a high tech job in Japan. Please, state specifically your major city of residence

karlrb

Immigrants can not easily find a high tech job in Japan. I live in Sapporo (2 million people) and have worked in IT 30+ years. The pay rate is poor and usually you will need a decent level of Japanese. Perhaps you can find a company like Hitachi ... Read More

Driving in Japan by Maximilien

Hi, What do you think of the way people drive in Japan? How different is it from your home country? Respecting the road safety rules, driving etiquette such as general courtesy, speed excess… what are the characteristics of the driving style ...

karlrb

I agree driving on the tollways seems to permit any speed, even though there are usually 80 kph limits. In general, the Japanese seem to be quite polite, courteous etc. I've been in Sapporo 2 years. It's been a pleasure to be here. Read More

I would like to teach English at Japan by Hafiz Dahlan

I'm Hafiz. I would like to teach English at Japan

It would probably be a good idea to have a native speaker review your English communications before you send them out. First impressions are very important, as I'm sure you know. For example, you don't teach English at Japan, you teach ... Read More

Hello. My name is Heather and currently live in USA. I wanted to meet people who currently live in Kyoto and ask about cost of living. I want to finish my bachelors degree then begin moving. My dream has always been to live in Kyoto. Can anyone help?
