Hi I'm an ex-expatriate and I'm now completing an MA dissertation in Managing Global Issues at Winchester University in the UK. I've lived in Budapest, Copenhagen and Singapore, both as a non working spouse and as a chartered surveyor. I'm really interested in the expatriate way of life and I'm doing some research on this for my dissertation. I would be very, very grateful if you could answer any of the questions below. All answers will be kept strictly confidential. The questions I am interested in are: The global manager versus the expatriate manager: Are you an expatriate in one location, or do you travel extensively thoughout a region? Where is your family located? How well does this work for the family? How well does this work for your assignment? Is the expatriate community supportive? Are you a third country nationals rather than a parent country national or a host country national? Where will you live when your international assignment is finished? Do you consider your that your international experience will help you reintegrate into the company when you return home? Does technology such as video conferencing affect the amount you travel? Or any other views, opinions would be very gratefully received! With thanks Alison
