Recently moved to Barranquilla, Colombia but anticipate going to Ecuador in October 2015 and then returning to Colombia in 2015. Presently work as a writer but starting to do some other online stuff. Would love to meet some other expats in Quito to hang out with and go dancing.
Miembro desde el 03 Enero 2011.
My background is mostly sales of one sort or the other. I'm presently retired on Social Security although I still do several internet things just for fun (e.g. blog about music, travel, world events, Libertarian causes, etc.)
I'm moving there primarily out of dissatisfaction with the social scene in Barranquilla where I've been for 2.5 years. They don't have salsa "clubs" here where single girls go to dance...and dancing is primarily what I like to do. So.... I know there are at least two successful dance studios in Medellin where I might go to take some lessons (I'm interested in Kizomba especially) and I know there is a bigger expat community in Medellin. So I'm hoping to find more dance action. I'll also be looking for an apartment (doesn't have to be anything fancy) in the 1 million COP or less range.
As stated above...the dancing scene in Barranquilla is terrible. It's not really an 'expat' town and the locals have a very unconcerned attitude about dancing. I'm hoping that it will be better in Medellin although I know Medellin is a bit more expensive.
Was a writer initially...then I retired. Work is not a major issue for me now.
Barranquilla is a very laid-back, safe, and relatively friendly city. I would recommend it for anybody who just wants to 'chill' and go out drinking or to routine stuff like movies. An "action city"....it's not.
No real dance clubs where single guys (who don't speak Spanish) can go and find single women who are there to dance.
