My name is Simona and I'm very passionate about India and Indian accessories. My love of India started when I visited the country at the beginning of 2011 and grew increasingly stronger since then. At the beginning I didn't know if I could spend a few weeks in India, but I ended up spending whole 5 months and came back to London (where I lived before) only to apply for another visa. I got selected to study at the university in Delhi, and this means that as soon as I get my student visa I will again continue my exploration of India and its treasures. Indian accessories My passion of accessories from India started as soon as I walked into the first Indian jewellery store in Delhi. I saw many detailed and ancient-looking pieces and I knew straight away that I would like to share the beauty of these items with the rest of the world. That's the reason I started this blog - I hope that I will inspire my readers to discover India and the manifestations of Indian art in the form of accessories. Although these days in Europe and America plastic, metal and synthetic accessories are popular, India is famous for beautiful gold and silver jewellery with natural stones. The scarfs are mainly silk or cotton. The traditional shoes are carefully embroidered. I like the fact that in India you can get so many beautiful unique hand-made accessories that nobody else has. I hope to inspire my readers to turn to the natural accessories which can heal (if made of gold, silver or natural stones) or provide a warm sense of satisfaction (items that are hand-made and therefore unique). More about me I own a successful spirituality blog and have been living in London for good 5 years. I'm originally from Lithuania. I always loved travelling and my goal in life was to have a business that would allow me to travel. That I managed to achieve and now I spend my time travelling and collecting beautiful accessories. In the past I never felt the desire to travel to India. But a year ago my interest in India started growing and soon I felt that I needed to visit this country. And I'm so glad I did. So at this time I'm waiting for my visa to be processed and once it's in my hands, I will first go to South India for a few weeks to be with my partner (who is a South Indian) and then I will head to Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, a city famous for its dessert, camels and sand-colored houses. I'm sure I will find plenty of interesting accessories there to write about and showcase to you. My mission The mission of this blog is to show the beauty of India through the hand-picked accessories from different parts of India. I also hope to inspire my readers to discover this spiritual land of beauty for themselves. I hope to accomplish these things through writing about Indian accessories and my experiences in India. What my blog will be about (my blog will launch in a week's time or less) Firstly, my blog will have a few hand-picked accessories for sale. I will only list those items which are truly special in some way. A part of the income from accessories will go towards the education of the poor Indian children (I talk about this in detail further down). I will also blog about my experiences in India, accessories tips and Indian culture. My concern When I came to India I clearly saw the inequality caused by the caste system and the lack of education among the lower castes. Through the earnings of this blog I will do my best to make a difference in the lives of at least some Indian people of low castes. Therefore a part of the earnings from the jewellery sales and all the donations (my blog will have a link to donate) will go towards solving these two problems. Once this blog provides me with enough money, I will pay for the education of some children of poor families. I will take pictures of each family together with their story and write about it on my blog. That is all about me and the purpose of this website. If you would like to get in touch with me for any reason, you are more than welcome to do so at accessoriesfromindia at gmail dot com. Thank you for reading this lengthy intro and I hope you will like the blog posts and accessories of my blog.
