My spouse was disabled due to an unsafe workplace and his health is not what it should be for a 53-year-old. Canadian winters are too hard on him and his quality of life has been diminished. We are looking for a safe, affordable place to retire and Ecuador seems to fit the bill. The Ecuadorian people sound wonderful and the lifestyle appears to be a good fit. I do not want to be considered a "gringo" or live in a gated community. I would like to integrate into Ecuadorian culture and speak flawless Spanish.
