Hi. We are Americans living in Amman, Jordan. It looks like our next adventure might be in Ethiopia, and if so we'll be living in Addis Ababa. My husband will be taking a short trip there from Amman, Jordan, soon and I was hoping to get some information from current ex-pats in Addis Ababi about sections of the city where he should look at apartments. We are empty-nesters, would like to live near a swimming pool/fitness center, a nice supermarket, and good cafes and restaurants. Is there a section of the city where most ex-pats live?? Thanks for any input! Looking forward to exploring Ethiopia!!

Absolutely great!!
Everything except the housing prices. The people are very nice. The weather is wonderful! Petra, the Dead Sea, Aqaba resorts... lots to see and do here.
We lived in the new Dier Ghabar area of Amman where apartment buildings are going up on every available piece of land, and are built "shoulder to shoulder." It is incredibly noisy in this area. I would advise living elsewhere until the area is completely built up and the excavators go away!!
