What's there to do? by White Rock

I'm ready to escape the rat race of either working like a mad man or looking for the next job that will require me to work like a mad man. Haunting these boards and investigating other Belize related web sites has me just about convinced that ...

Ned

Thanks to all for the fast answers. Sounds like boating, snorkaling and scuba diving, the Mayan ruins, swimming, eating and drinking, bird watching (at least in the interior), and walking are all possibles. I'm not interested in working for pay but ... Read More

Thanks Nichi and Hawk, We can wait to get involved in volunteering on a formal basis. Heck, I'll walk around the park and pick up trash once in a while just to be useful! And I do plan on bringing the Kayak - I'll be out there on the water and have ... Read More

Thanks for the reply. I'm not so much worried about the sports side of it as I'm interested in the people. What are the active charities that need another warm body down there? I'll sweep floors, stuff envelopes, whatever is needed. Anything to keep ... Read More

Groceries by White Rock

I know Belize isn't the US but, trying to figure out how really different it might be. We're a pretty simple couple but something we really take seriously is food. I expect we'll be able to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at the market but how about ...

Doesn't sound like a 2006 Toyota would be too difficult for them to handle. And, there's always Chetumal for big repairs, I suppose. Thanks to all for the info. Ned Read More

Travel by litlolelady

Never been out of the country before. Going to Belize City for daughters wedding. How does one get from airport to hotel and to shops and restaurants.? Are there McDonalds and such places there. What are the costs there? Thanks!

Ned

I'll jump in even though I've never been to Belize. Suggest you check with the hotel. I'd be they can take care of you for all this. Read More

Water sports in Corozal by White Rock

This may seem like a petty question but, as I've said before, I like beaches - mostly because I like the water. I'm finding that the mainland of Belize is fairly "beach free" so, other than just jumping off the dock in Corozal, is there decent ...

The choice just keeps getting easier and easier. Thanks Read More

Thanks Brigitte. Another place to check out when we get down there for some investigation. Good thing, I guess, is that there aren't all that many choices that are both 1) on the mainland and 2) on the water. Read More

Sounds great. Looking at the map it appears that Chetumal is only about 10 miles by kayak. A nice little jaunt for me from time to time. And, if I feel like some real adeventure I can head on out to San Pedro and back. Read More

I'll have to get used to the size of Belize! Any time you talk about driving from one city to another in Texas - you're talking about a DRIVE! Seems funny to hear you talk about driving to these other cities, even though I imagine you don't do it ... Read More
