Cynical or realistic (finances of countries) Netherlands/Hungary

I am Dutch and I am happy that I got raised there, some principles, practical approach etc.

However living there (in the Netherlands) is difficult I think, so much crime, high taxes, so many rules (also costing a bit).

I have nothing against honest refugees (family, really being in danger because of believes, ..) but in practice 80% of refugees are young men and often coming from safe countries. Nobody wants to recognize that but statistics show this.

Refugees from safe countries have to be sent back, but they can appeal for court (cost 1), sometimes even go for an appeal for 1 (cost 2), a free ticket with an airplane (with police guiding from start to finish (cost 3 and 4). Adds up to something.

If the refugees have criminal energy, prison and damage to society also adds up (5 and 6) (apart from housing, food, public transport (7,8,9)

No doubt about it I believe REAL refugees should be received.

Conceptually in Hungary (part of EU and Schengen has similar rules), but not so amazingly people prefer a rich country, prisons are not so comfortable, treatment is less etc. Whereas I have some very concerns with Hungarian government, they save quite a bit on refugees and criminals (criminals are business men and go where the biggest profit can be made (not in Hungary))

Taxes in Netherlands I read will be raised again, people un-employed, disabled, .. will be protected, but others (like me) even if not rich will have to pay.

Conclusion, either to stay in Turkey or go back to Hungary.

I don't know what the question is with this post.

I see it more of an opinion piece.

I couldn't say what an honest refugee is, just about everyone one meets no matter where they are from has a secret side to them or at least a side they don't like to advertize.

No one is perfect.

There is suppose to be an efficient immigration system in every country.

Suppose to be is the word not the rule.

This is a bit personal with me, the question of what's fair and who is taking advatange of the system.

My one side of the family is native American andon the other side I am first generation American born.

My husband , a Hungarian was a HU refugee.

He is about the most honest person I've ever met and he isn't perfect.

No one can chose their heritage or where they were born.

The world belongs to all of us not just a few .

I do know it wasn't easy for my husband.

He had to leave all he knew and his family when he left Hungary for the west.

His only motive was to have an adventure because the rigid communist system wasn't for him. Almost everyone he knew just worked , got married and died without seeing the world or experiencing anything outside of their own culture. He had too much energy and drive to follow the pattern.

He knew if he was caught leaving he could face serious jail time.

As it was he was put in jail for one night in Italy when he entred without papers. They were nice and kept the dor open knowing he wasn't going anywhere as he was the one to approach them for help.

They tk him to a refugee camp the next day where he spent nearly one year while he was being processed.

It could of been sooner but he broke his arm and needed medical care before going on to where ever he decided was for him.

Most people did spend a year in the camps but he was skilled labor and they usually moved these peple through faster, skilled people are fmailies went out first usually.

When he arrived in NYC it was the worldwide refugee fund who paid his airlfare, not the tax payers of any country but a chairty group.

He was put up for one month in a dirty rat invested hotel in NYC.

Everyone had one month only to get it together and get work and move out of the hotel.

He was working within the first 10 days of landing in the US.

Never looked back and never broke any US laws to speak of, OK we all run a red light or jay walk.

If not for immigrants to the US many of our cities and towns would be missing the flavor and style that they have.

As an American I could get myself worked up abut the millions of illegals entering everyday  but they will find out the hard way that the US isn't always a free ride, sooner or later the piper must be paid.

I know for a fact that my husband has given more to the US in every way then what he ever took.

I am a guest here in HUngary. The only difference between me and another immigrant is I have family from here and am married to a HU. I also am not getting a dime from the Hungarians other then what is due as the wife of a citizen, just health coverage which I think is the humane thing that should be offered to all in every country.

In the US I know immigrant doctors who treated family members of mine, those are the sort of new comers every country loves to except, too bad we must sometimes take the good with the bad.

Something gone wrong with the formatting here....bug?! It converted my post into HTML but this morning it seemed to be repaired but now it's messed up again. Might be my web browser.  I re-edited it.

The problem with the HU government is that it says one thing and does another. It's not transparent and it's all wrapped up in it's own BS.

And they do unfriendly things.  i.e., creating a OV cum Fidesz propaganda office in Brussels:

https://www.euronews.com/my-europe/2022/11/18/brussels-just-got-a-hungarian-think-tank-heres-why-it-matters

No-one knows exactly what their policies are other than they are Putinesque.  90% of the time is spent trying to hoodwink the Hungarians and many of them are completely fooled by the nonsense. There is some hope in some places, Trump was shown his formula doesn't work in the mid-terms. Yesterday's man, to be replaced by the younger DeSantis - potentially dangerous.

Then again, we have Italy electing Meloni. Turkey might see Erdogan thrown out.  That will be interesting. And OV might finally get the boot as his ludicrous BS reaches hysteria.

Come here or stay there, it's all the same. All volatile with extremists involved.
